I love trying out new brands, and when a new one is affordable and effective? Even better. Lipidol is a skincare brand from the makers of Bio Oil, with 6 oils available only at Walmart for less than $10 each. Lipidol targets the skincare processes that can benefit the most from the additional moisture from oils–washing, shaving, and moisturizing. I had a chance to try out the Lipidol After Shower Oil*, Cleansing Face Oil* and Overnight Face Oil*.
All the Lipidol products come in clear plastic containers with a small opening at the top–it’s a hole in the top, not the entire area, so it isn’t difficult to dispense only a little. The Lipidol After Shower Oil is a clear oil you can use on your skin after shower and is very, very lightly fragranced with Chamomile essential oil–I honestly didn’t notice it until I read the press release. When I massage it into my skin after showering it’s left soft and moisturized. It’s a tiny bit shiny at first but that quickly fades, and I don’t find it greasy. Honestly, there’s probably very little difference between this and the Caudalie Contouring Concentrate…
Although I only use cleansing oils when I have heavier makeup on, especially eye makeup, I really love them. The Lipidol Cleansing Face Oil is a great affordable option that you massage into dry skin, it breaks down all the make up, and then you add water so it lathers up a bit and can rinse off. I honestly don’t feel like I have to double cleanse as it washes away really well, but that’s up to personal preference. I do know it does a fantastic job breaking down stubborn makeup, and it is not at all irritating or drying to my skin–or my eyes, although I do keep them shut when cleansing–like many makeup removers. It’s very lightly fragranced with Rosemary and Niaouli essential oils.
The final product I tried is the Lipidol Overnight Face Oil, which is the heaviest of the three oils and meant to be applied before bed. It’s very lightly fragranced with Ylang-Ylang and Black Pepper essential oils, but as with all three oils I didn’t really notice the scent. It’s definitely a heavier oil so it doesn’t take much and I feel comfortable using it instead of a moisturizer on its own. I am prone to breakouts and using this oil didn’t cause any–if anything my skin look softer.
Honestly, I am really impressed with Lipidol so far. You might not be getting the swankiest packaging, but I have really enjoyed the oils that are inside, especially the Cleansing Face Oil. In addition to the three oils I tried, there are three others from Lipidol including a Cleansing Body Oil, Suntan Oil and an After Shave Oil. Do you use oils as a part of your skincare routine?
