The Last 2016 Empties Post

It’s finally here! The last of my 2016 empties. Unless I find another bag hidden in my closet….I sure hope not!

Starting off with some haircare, I used up the Dove Regenerative Nourishment Shampoo and Conditioner, which I really liked if you need lots of moisture. Also I just really like this packaging…does anyone else find shampoo bottles can be super hard to squeeze?

Speaking of hard to squeeze, that was definitely true of the Aussie Moist 3-Minute Miracle hair mask, which I ordered in bulk from Amazon at one point but this may be my last one. I saw a ton of amazing reviews on YouTube when I first started blogging and I wanted to see if it lived up to the hype…It did. It leaves my hair super super soft!

There’s also Bath and Body Works Pearberry Body Cream, which I love the texture of but I got really sick of the scent by the end, and the tiny bit left was super old so…garbage. I did enjoy the Nivea Sensitive 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Water, if you need a micellar water.

The Zoella Fizz Bar had a soft but lovely scent and the chocolate-bar-esque format was really convenient for putting a few squares in the bath, although it’s not as exciting as Lush it’s perfect for an easy bath with no clean-up needed. I really adore the Aromatherapy Associates Support Equilibrium Bath & Shower Oil, and all the other oils I’ve tried from the brand, which I find make a noticeable difference in the bath. The only issue is they are quite expensive and I got this as a sample set on Boxing Day a few years ago that is almost done.

The Lush Autumn Leaf Bath Bomb wasn’t my favourite scent but it was really pretty and if you like grassy fragrances hopefully they bring it back for you! Lush Pumpkin Bath Bomb also left my water a really pretty colour–orangey-yellow in this case–but has a spicy Christmas-ish scent. It was also a really cute bath bomb. The last Lush empty is another Halloween one–these may have been my October empties. Lush Boo had a citrus ginger scent and was super moisturizing on the skin. I really love how Lush bath melts leave my skin feeling!

Lush Dirty Springwash Shower Gel has since been discontinued, but it is a really awakening scent that was perfect after a sweaty workout at the gym.

I usually love Kiehl’s but there was nothing special about this Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Eye-Opening Serum, since it wasn’t quite moisturizing enough to work as an eye cream. I also don’t really like the packaging, even though it probably helps keep it fresh longer, I like having some idea of how much I have left in a product. I adored the Lush Don’t Look at Me Face Mask, which is blue and bright and clarifying. When I bring in more free Lush empties, I’ll definitely be redeeming for this.

This adorable Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter mini was travel-friendly and just as awesome as the full-size, but smaller. I really love this body butter, I actually have a big tub I brought back from the UK that hopefully won’t expire before I get to it. I adore the Ole Henriksen African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser, because a) I love things that foam, and b) I love the orange scent and c) I love the way it leaves my skin feeling. I have another mini size I’ve purchased but if I ever finish enough face wash to justify it, I would definitely buy this.

I was gifted this Pure + simple Restoration Eye Mask by Julie, which are the kind that go under your eyes and they were super cooling and soothing to use although I don’t know where I’d get the brand locally. Finally, I really adore the Victoria’s Secret Love Spell scent, all leading back to a post I made around the time I started Writing Whimsy (here). I was gifted a set of of the scent from my boyfriend’s mom a few years ago and I finally pulled out this Victoria’s Secret Love Spell Body Wash, and while the body wash portion isn’t super special the scent…just as awesome as I remember.

I did an end-of-year clearout of my mascaras and tossed a Dior Diorshow Mascara in Black and Navy, Mary Kay Lash Intensity Mascara, essence I Love Extreme Volume Mascara, Joe Fresh Hydra Lash Mascara and the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper Brow Gel in Transparent. You can click through for my original reviews, but I think my favourite was actually the Joe Fresh!

So much matcha, but never too much. DAVIDsTEA Strawberry Matcha was really delicious, especially when I tried it as an iced latte, but it’s been discontinued and I think peach is still my favourite though I miss this. There are 3 bags of DAVIDsTEA Peach Matcha in there though, just incase you doubted my love. I have a little tin of DAVIDsTEA Mocha Matcha, which I really loved as a hot latte, but was sadly discontinued. There’s also a bag of DAVIDsTEA Ceremonial Matcha, which as always, is great.

If you want your tea to taste like candy, you’ll need to try this sweet DAVIDsTEA Cotton Candy rooibos, if they ever bring it back. I did pick up a large tin when it went on sale. There’s an adorable DAVIDsTEA Love Tea #7 in a heart-shaped tin from last year’s Valentine’s Day Collection, which is a nice chocolate tea although not the most memorable ever for me. Jodi gave me her leftover DAVIDsTEA Queen of Tarts because she didn’t like it. But I love it and miss it, will definitely buy more once I make it through some more of my caffeinated tea. DAVIDsTEA Pom Cider surprisingly tasted mostly of fennel, which I don’t mind but wasn’t really expected and wasn’t a huge fan of in this instance. Finally, there’s a tiny DAVIDsTEA Blueberry Muffin, which is a fruity herbal I really like.

I didn’t think it was possible… but they are done! Those are my 2016 empties. I’ve jammed my 2017 empties so far into a single post–traveling lots has meant fewer than usual anyway–so I’ll be sharing those next week and then I’ll be all caught up!
