I’d had my eye on these moisturizing lipsticks for awhile, so I was very excited to test out Lancome Rouge in Love Lipcolour in Rose Rendezvous 230M* and Jolie Rosalie 275M*, two shades safe for a neutral-lover like me, but not entirely expected either.
Lancome Rouge in Love Lipcolours are a great mix of creamy pigmentation and glossy, moisturizing wear. That means it’s not the longest wearing product around, but it is comfortable. The packaging is luxurious, a matte silver bullet with the traditional Lancome rose imprinted on top and a nice weight to it. My only annoyance is that the shade number (not even the name) is only printed in white on the bottom of the tube and that is already started to scratch away after a couple weeks in my pocket so I predict I’ll eventually have to open to the tube to tell shades apart, making it a bit of a hassle. I wish the label was printed on better and included the name as well as the number.
The Lancome Rouge in Love Lipcolours are divided into three lines based on what time of day they are intended for: daytime shades (M), early evening colours (B) and nightime shades (N). They get get darker and more pigmented as you go later in the day, so unsurprisingly both the shades I have to share, Lancome Rouge in Love Lipcolour in Rose Rendezvous 230M and Jolie Rosalie 275M are M shades. I just can’t stray that far from my neutrals!
My Lancome Rouge in Love Lipcolour in Rose Rendezvous 230M came a tiny bit damaged, but that didn’t take away from how gorgeous it is. It’s described as a pinkish beige but it honestly doesn’t show up that way on me at all and is more of a peachy, dark coral. It’s really pretty, but I actually thought it would be a bit similar to 275M and as you can tell from the swatch, they are nothing alike. I really love these lipsticks and the reason why is because they are so comfortable and easy to wear. They aren’t 100% opaque, but it feels more like wearing a tinted lip balm because of how creamy and moisturizing they are. As a result, Lancome Rouge in Love Lipcolour in Rose Rendezvous 230M only lasts a few hours on me and isn’t transfer resistant, but it is quick and easy to reapply. I’d rather wear a lipstick that’s comfortable for a couple hours, than an uncomfortable, drying, formula all day.
The second shade I tried out was Lancome Rouge in Love Lipcolour in Jolie Rosalie 275M, a mauve-berry shade that was darker than I expected but still looks very flattering on the lips. Although the wear on this isn’t much longer than 230M, it does leave behind a faint stain. When swatching, so does 230M but it isn’t anything I can detect on my lips. This sort of reddish plum shade is really pretty for fall, and although I’ll be getting more use out of Lancome Rouge in Love Lipcolour in Rose Rendezvous 230M in the coming months, I know that as soon as the weather turns I’ll be reaching for 275M instead.
Overall, both Lancome Rouge in Love Lipcolour in Rose Rendezvous 230M and Jolie Rosalie 275M are extremely comfortable on the lips, lightweight and moisturizing to wear, pigmented, glossy shades in lovely packaging. I definitely have my eye on a few more shades such as Corail in Love 322M and Roses in Love 353M.
