Kiss is a brand that is pretty new to me, but their nail art kits have been catching my eye at my local drugstore, so I was really excited to test out the Kiss French Artist Pen Kit*.
The Kiss French Artist Pen Kit is basically a French manicure in a box, and it comes with a white, French Artist Pen, a nail guard that you can use to protect the rest of your nail from getting polish on it, and a Gel Strong Top Coat for finishing up.
The Kiss Tip Guide ring is made of a rubbery pink material so it’s very easy to clean, and it has two sides, one for small nails and one for large nails. It’s also adjustable for the thickness of your finger. Basically it’s very easy to use on one nail, but for me it becomes a bit of a hassle when you have to remove it and put it on the next finger again and again. It definitely helps you achieve straight lines though.
After you’ve placed the nail guard on, the next step in the Kiss French Artist Pen Kit is to follow your line with the pen to create the French manicure. The pen included is great because it’s a very opaque white so there’s definitely no need to do multiple layers of polish. It’s also very accurate, so I found I had a pretty easy time doing a French manicure even without the nail guard.
After you’re done with the white tips, the last step is to finish up with a nice, glossy top coat. I actually LOVE the one included in the Kiss French Artist Pen Kit, and I am wondering if it is sold separately. It dries quickly and is super glossy. You can see what a difference a good top coat makes in my “before/after” photos below.
Once your top coat is dry, you’re all ready to go!
However, after using the Kiss French Artist Pen Kit I just couldn’t stop thinking how easy the pen would be for other nail art as well, so I created a little winter look by topping a wintery Sinful colours polish with a snowflake design that was super easy to draw using the pen. Believe me, if it’s nail art I can accomplish, it’s got to be very easy!
Overall, I really liked the Kiss French Artist Pen Kit. I would probably only use it for French manicures if I was going to a wedding or some other even where I wanted really formal nails, but it’s very easy to use for that. The pen itself is also just great quality and fun for other nail art, and the tiny top coat it includes is quite magical. Definitely a success and I look forward to try more nail art products from Kiss next!
