I received Julep Vivien in the Julep Sea Salt Mystery Box back in May 2013, and originally swatched it then, but I figured I would share again. At the time I only shared over other colours, so this time I’ve got some solo swatches plus over a different base. I actually had this one on my swap board for awhile, but since I still have it, might as well share it.
Julep Vivien is described as “a full coverage multi-dimensional gold glitter” and although it does cover the whole nail with sparkle, I wouldn’t really agree with the full coverage description because it definitely still benefits from a base if you want to not see the nail underneath. I went with two coats of it on its own, and one coat over Julep Fiore, the brown I shared yesterday.
Julep Vivien is a loaded with small shimmer and is quite generous on the gold hexes too. In fact, there’s so much shimmer that I find it makes the colour underneath look a little muddy. I like the shade a lot more the first time I swatched but but it’s definitely one I’ve moved on from in the year since. It is unusual, and the formula is quite good and not too thick despite doing a great job holding all the glitter, but I am fairly meh over the end result.
Unfortunately these days I prefer Julep Vivien in the bottle rather than on the nail, so now that I’ve shared it a second and final time it is going back in my stash of things to giveaway. Sorry Viv, it’s been good while it lasted. That said, if the colour interests you, it has good coverage and a good formula, so it’s worth grabbing, it’s just not for me anymore.
