I actually got Julep Oscar in March (2013, around the time of the Academy Awards) for free as an add-on during one of the many Julep promos, and I was pretty excited about it because I thought it promised to be a full-coverage gold glitter and I like sparkle. A year and a bit later, it’s not quite as special amongst a much larger polish collection, but it is pretty.
Julep Oscar is described as a “multi-dimensional gold glitter”, but as a gold, sparkly glitter in a clear base it isn’t terribly unique. It has a good formula and gives a nice, even spread of glitter but even with the two coats pictured it’s not quite opaque enough to call full coverage and really benefits from a base. You could use a gold base for an ultra luxe look, and it does work well as a glitter topper because even one coat gives a good share of glitter.
I tested out one coat of Julep Oscar over Essie Strut Your Stuff, and it was a pretty, long-lasting combination. I also think this would look great over black.
