How sad am I about this product? I really love the Jordana Sweet n’ Smooth Nourishing Lip Balm in Vanilla Cake, but right after I featured it in my October favourites (which you can find here), I lost it at a debate tournament. Still, I had my photos and I had my feelings, so I’m going to review it anyway. In absentia, lost but not forgotten…
I grabbed all the different flavours of Jordana Sweet n’ Smooth Nourishing Lip Balm in Cherry Culture haul when they had a promotion that meant they were 89 cents each (plus shipping). I figured for about a dollar, the worst that would happen is that I had a bunch of crummy lip balms. That said the reviews were pretty good, and some of the flavours are actually quite tinted, so I figured it was worth a try.
Even thought it was clear, I started off with Jordana Sweet n’ Smooth Nourishing Lip Balm in Vanilla Cake, probably because it tempted me with the scent. I wouldn’t say it was overpowering or sickly sweet or anything like that, it’s really quite a light, vanilla cakey type scent. All of the other flavours in the line smell like fruits.
Jordana Sweet n’ Smooth Nourishing Lip Balm in Vanilla Cake offers 3.9 grams of product, and I definitely managed to make a little dent in mine before I lost it. It is slightly smaller than the average lip balm–– my Burts Bees is 4.25 grams by comparison, but given how likely I am to finish a lip balm that doesn’t matter to me at all. The consistency of the balm really is smooth and nourishing, although it’s not incredibly long lasting or thick so it definitely has to be reapplied often.
My only pet peeve with the Jordana Sweet n’ Smooth Nourishing Lip Balms are the packaging. I realize they are going for a fake Baby Lips type vibe, but I find that the lip balm doesn’t stay up in the tube, so you basically have to hold the bottom to keep it turned up while you’re using it which is quite annoying.
Overall, I find the Jordana Sweet n’ Smooth Nourishing Lip Balm in Vanilla Cake hydrating, with a nice smell but without flavour, and very affordable. Although I am sad to have lost it, I am excited to test out the other flavours in my collection, and next time I order Jordana products I will definitely be grabbing one of these again.
Do you have a favourite lip balm? Have you tried out Jordana? I am really loving that brand lately!
