January Favourites

Yay! It’s time for January Favourites! I’m actually really excited to do my January Favourites because I haven’t been able to do a Favourites post since November (you can check that out here) because I was traveling for a lot of December (and a tiny bit of January) so that threw off my blogging. But things are back to normal and I have a bunch of lovely products to share this month and one repeat from November. Quite a few of these products you might recognize from my Project Pan, which means a) I’m using them and b) I’m loving them, so I couldn’t be happier about that.

January Favourites 1

Why not start with the repeat? First up is MUA Cream Blush in Yummy, which is so lovely and definitely worth the 2 pounds it cost. When I was in London I was definitely planning to grab more shades (I have one or two others at home) but MUA at Superdrug seemed to be sold out of almost everything each time. The formula on this is fantastic and although I usually try to add some powder blush on top to set it, I just love the natural look it gives and the creamy, moisturizing nature of it is perfect for winter. Along those same lines, I’ve been loving Philosophy My Heart To Yours Lip Shine* to give my lips a little shine and moisture for the cold days.  I haven’t been wearing much lip product and I only got this near the end of the month (see my full review here) but the scent and formula is lovely.

I’ve had some great polish on my nails, but my favourite has to be a purple, this is LA Girl 3D Effect in Purple Effect, and although I haven’t featured it on Writing Whimsy yet, I was sent two other shades in the line for review (silver and teal) and you see those swatches here. I managed to grab one okay photo of it when I was wearing it, but not enough for a blog post, so I’ve included it here for now. The purple is most similar to the teal, a bit of a jelly feel with loads of holographic sparkle. I can’t believe this is a drugstore find! Apparently it is also a dupe for Zoya Aurora, if that’s a polish you’ve been looking for.

January Favourites 2

I realize I never need to buy more perfume again, and most of my bottles are 100 mL so for my Project Pan I decided to start off with this 50 mL bottle of Avril Lavigne Black Star, a warm winter scent that lasts most of the day on me and smells delicious with notes of pink hibiscus, black plum and dark chocolate. Although they don’t go together, the body lotion I’ve been loving is (sorry, Limited Edition!) Lush Celebrate Hand and Body Lotion* from the Christmas collection and it’s just so fresh and citrus and moisturizing. Lush lotions are expensive but this one is so nice I highly recommend trying it if Lush brings it back, and can understand why it’s a cult hit in Japan. Check out my full review of it here.

In case it wasn’t obvious I am a huge Lush fan, I have a second product from the brand in my favourites this month. Like Celebrate, Lush Prince Charming Shower Gel* is a fresh, citrus (and pomegranate) scent that smells edible and perfect for helping wake you up. It’s a bit tart but also sweet, and it’s Limited Edition for Valentine’s Day so I definitely recommend checking it out before it disappears. You can see my full review here.

January Favourites

Finally, my last two January favourites are a bit boring, but quite necessary tools! First up is the Facial Hair Remover by Epicare* that I just reviewed here, but basically it makes removing facial hair so easy and efficient. You can check out my full review of it here.

My final January favourite is the E.L.F. Wet Gloss Lash & Brow, basically an eyebrow gel that works so so much better than the Essence one I have been using for the couple months. I have used this before and loved it but I can’t buy it in store, so I had tried out the Essence one before I’d managed to get ahold of a couple more of these, and honestly in the time I was using the other one, I forgot how good these are! Great hold, they keep my brows in place all day. They don’t come with a lot of product but the cost is $1, so I’ll definitely be stocking up again next time I get the chance.

January Favourites 3So those are my January Favourites! Lots of moisturizing, easy, products seems to be the theme, so maybe I’ll try to do a little more makeup in February instead. I have a lot of great products to use, but sometimes you need a month that’s a bit more lazy. I think these favourites are all perfect for that!

Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products, and what your January Favourites are?
