These look like a really good month of empties, but it’s partially a lie. I didn’t post an empties for December because I was traveling for a lot of the month, so my January Empties include anything from December. Overall, it was still decent, but not amazing, and I have high hopes for the rest of the year. Especially with my project pan, I want to start finishing products, not just trying them. But here’s what I managed to get done… (Also, sorry this post is super late, I always procrastinate on these, even though they only include items from the month stated– in other words, I have a separate bag going for February empties taking up space at the same time.)
* = Disliked the product – would not repurchase
** = Liked the product – might or might not repurchase
*** = Loved the product – would repurchase
2. Got2B Dry Shampoo
Yeah, I tend not to really need dry shampoo but I wanted to try it anyway and this one left a white cast on my really dark hair so I think it took me like a year to use on days when I felt like experimenting anyway. *
3. Compliments Nail Polish Remover Non-Acetone
Apparently acetone is what makes nail polish removers work because this sucked. I bought two of these on sale because the pump bottles were cute and I thought I would reuse them but I honestly prefer a regular bottle so this was a total waste. The only good thing is that it was the first item I’ve finished off my Project Pan list. *
4. Almay Lash Care Gentle Eye Makeup Remover Pads*
I compared these to another version in my review (here), and much preferred the other kind so of course I decided I had to use these ones up first. They aren’t horrible but they do burn my eyes so I would not repurchase them, even the format is really handy.
5. & 6. TRESemme Platinum Strength Shampoo and Conditioner
Is it weird that I’m super proud I finished up some tiny samples? I have a never ending bottle of shampoo and conditioner that I can’t wait to finish, but I took a tiny break to test out these. There’s nothing wrong with them but I didn’t notice anything super special except that they weren’t the horrible all natural product I’m normally using. I’d have to test them out longer to know for sure how I felt though. **
This was really nice and I liked it even more the second time I used it. It had a light but crisp apple scent and a pretty pink colour. It’s not the flashiest bath bomb, but it’s definitely lovely and I hope Lush brings it back again next Christmas. You can see my full review here. **
SO GOOD. I bought one of these in my Lush Boxing Day Haul, but I wish I had been able to pick up more (I basically bought a whole gift set just to get a second one). You can see my full review here, but basically, most amazing delicious bath bomb ever. So pretty and smells so good. I love you forever. ***
9. Essence Lash & Brow Gel Mascara
Well, I didn’t quite realize how terrible this product was until I was back to my ELF brow gel, but I definitely knew it wasn’t holding my brows in place. Yeah, not even worth the $2 I spent on it and will definitely not repurchase unless I’m super sad because I can’t find the ELF one in Canada and have no other way to try to tame my brows.*
10. & 11. & 12. Sephora Eye Pencils
These are all SO OLD. And I hate throwing things out, but they are sticky and weird and can definitely not be used on my eyes. They are basically shadow crayons, and I don’t know if Sephora sells them anymore but I adored these in high school when apparently I wore super bright colours because my few pieces of makeup from that time are all in like, blue and green shades. I still think the shadow pencil is a great idea, and I have a pretty bronze one from Rimmel, so these will get three stars because I loved them back when I remember using them. ***
This is only a sample card obviously but it smelled really nice and I would love to test out this perfume with a bigger sample before I made any decisions. Consider me intrigued. **
14. & 15. Spiced Wreath and Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Bath and Body Works Candles
Both of these were really great fall/winter scents. I wasn’t around much when my boyfriend was burning Spiced Wreath cause I was in Europe but he loved it and we will definitely repurchase. Oatmeal Raisin Cookie I got about a year ago in a really good sale and it smelled nice but it’s not a specific scent I would rush out for. Every time we use these candles though I realize what a difference they make over cheap ones in terms of how much scent they fill the room with.
16. DAVIDsTEA Alpine Punch
This was good but… I prefer Forever Nuts. You can see my full review/thoughts here.
17. Bath and Body Works Deep Cleansing Hand Soap in Vermont Sugar Maple
This was a gift from my boyfriend’s mom for our apartment, and it smells good but it’s really sweet and a bit overwhelming for me, so although I love these soaps I probably wouldn’t rebuy this particular scent. **
18. Bath and Body Works Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in Vanilla Bean Noel
This is my boyfriend’s favourite scent ever, and I think it’s pretty amazingly delicious too, so I got him a bunch of these (well, three) and we are currently using up the other two. I am starting to wonder if I should have bought more! But i have other older hand soaps to use too, so I will just be sad until these return again next winter. So delicious. Seriously, if you haven’t smelled this scent you are missing out!
So like I said, an okay month for empties but definitely pathetic if you think of it as two months and three of the items aren’t things I finished, just ones I’m throwing out. I will try to have more items I’m throwing out in my empties though, I need to be a little more picky with my collection I think. But I also need to use things up, and hopefully I have more of that at the end of this month than I did for my January Empties. Now to go toss out the trash!
Have you tried anything in my January empties? Let me know what you’ve finished up lately.
