If it seems like there’s a focus on winter skin saviours lately, there’s two reasons for that. One, it’s the Canadian Beauty Blogger theme of the month (check out all the great posts here) and two, well my skin just needs a lot of help this time of year. I know that I can count on Jack Black to help out my skin and today I’m sharing some awesome products from the brand, the Jack Black Core Collection* and Moisture Therapy Lip Balm in Grapefruit*.
I first tried out the Jack Black Core Collection last winter when I featured it in a holiday gift guide (here) and honestly, with Valentine’s Day approaching this would also make an excellent gift. It comes in a Jack Black cloth bag which makes it easy to store or travel with the products. The set itself contains the brand’s classic Beard Lube, which is a pre-shave oil, shave cream and skin conditioner in one made with jojoba and eucalyptus. It’s moisturizing on the skin and allows for a close shave without clogging your razor.
The Jack Black Core Collection also contains the Jack Black Pure Clean Daily Facial Cleanser, which I finished up a tube of in July, and it is a nice creamy cleanser made with aloe and sage leaf, but not especially exciting. Although to be fair, this is a line targeted at men and I think most of them (in my experience) don’t want an “exciting” face cleanser. Finally, there’s a container of the Jack Black Double Duty Face Moisturizer SPF 20, which I love because it comes with a pump, comes with a pump, contains blue algae extract and sea parsley to help moisturizer, and absorbs well so there’s no greasy residue. This is my favourite product of the trio!
I think the part of my skin that suffers the most during the winter time are my lips, and I actually included Jack Black in my 5 Best Nighttime Lip Balms. Although I’ve tried a few scents before–I’m almost done my Asian Pear one–the Jack Black Moisture Therapy Lip Balm in Grapefruit is new to me, and I’m in love. This grapefruit scent is the tart, delicious kind while the balm itself has no flavour on the lips.
In terms of consistency, the Jack Black Moisture Therapy Lip Balm in Grapefruit is a thick, petrolatum balm that’s now paraben-free. This is a case where I really like the squeeze tube, because most really thick balms come in a pot and I much prefer to keep this one in my winter jacket pocket since it’s a lot more hygienic for use outside my apartment. Not only is it great at protecting the lips from the dry cold, but it has SPF 25 to help protective from the sun as well.
Whether you are looking for some new winter skin saviours for yourself or for a male friend in your life, you’ll definitely want to check out Jack Black. The Jack Black Core Collection would make an amazing gift and I am really enjoying the Jack Black Moisture Therapy Lip Balm in Grapefruit for the delicious scent and effective lip balm.
Do you have any Jack Black favourites? I know most of their products are aimed at beards but I’m really interested in their Industrial Strength Hand Healer–I bet it does a great job!
