Steph runs one of the first beauty blogs I was subscribed to, Fun Size Beauty. She also does the most amazing Halloween and costume makeups, so if she says these are staples? You should trust her! I’m excited to have her guest post on my blog today for the Canadian Beauty Bloggers theme of Halloween.
You’ve got two hours until trick or treating (or a Halloween party) and you’ve put off costume hunting until the last minute. No need to fear, makeup is here! Here are 5 makeup staples that you can use to create a Halloween costume by using everyday beauty products.
1. White base – NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk – Traditionally used as an eyeshadow primer, the NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk can also work as makeshift white face paint. Get the pale-as-a-ghost look by colouring your face with this cult product. A white base is the perfect foundation for makeup looks like the Grudge, a sugar skull, a ghost, etc.
2. Black Liner(s) – Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil in Black and Revlon Skinny Liner – A staple in most people’s everyday makeup, a black eyeliner makes for some easy Halloween costumes. Draw on some whiskers and a nose and you’re a cat. Smudge some liner around your eyes and you’ve got a black eye.
3. Red Lipstick – Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick in Spotlight Red – Think of all the beautiful non-fictional and fictional people you could be wearing red lipstick. Think along the lines of Mrs. Mia Wallace, Rosie the Riveter, Marilyn Monroe, and even MirandaSings…
4. The Body Shop Instablur – This all-in-one face perfector and primer can be used whether makeup is the star of your Halloween costume or not. The Body Shop Instablur smooths away imperfections and keeps oil at bay, so you’re picture-perfect.
All in all, if you’re on the hunt for a creative Halloween costume, you only have to go looking as far as your makeup drawer. Hopefully this helped Happy Halloween!
