If there’s one makeup product that really says luxury to me, it’s been always been the Guerlain Meteorites, and with the release of a compact version, there was even more incentive to finally try it out. There are a few shade options available, and I have the Guerlain Meteorites Compact in Clair 02*.
Starting with the packaging, the Guerlain Meteorites Compact in Clair 02 comes in a protective velvet pouch, which is always a lovely addition by high end brands. Inside is a silver compact with an engraved floral-esque design that easily opens to reveal a large mirror on one side and the mosaic-like powder on the other.
Similar to the original version, the Guerlain Meteorites Compact in Clair 02 has an amazing violet scent that is not noticeable once applied but smells incredible in the pan. I was told that Guerlain used to make a perfume with the same fragrance–I would definitely buy it! The powder is a combination of pink, green, purple, white, and yellow tones that swirl together to be a nearly-transparent color-correcting powder.
In the above swatch I have Guerlain Meteorites Compact in Clair 02 applied quite heavily on the left, and blended in the right. If you can’t really see anything on the right, that’s because it’s quite subtle. It is a finishing powder after all, and the best way to describe the effect is to say it makes my skin look luminous. Unfortunately, that’s basically impossible to capture in photos. Of course I tried anyway.
I like to apply the Guerlain Meteorites Compact in Clair 02 with a large kabuki brush I have with soft black bristles that make it obvious how much product I’ve picked up and evenly distributes it across my face. Although it is a finishing powder and not a setting powder, I do find it extends the wear on my foundation slightly. However, that’s really not what it promises to do. Instead, it helps even out skin by diffusing light and giving it an almost photo-shopped quality in person.
Guerlain Meteorites Compact in Clair 02 is my first experience with a finishing powder, and I am hooked. For the extra twenty seconds it takes me to apply it in the morning, I think the effect it gives is stunning. Combined with the lovely packaging and scent, it is really a part of the morning routine I enjoy, and sometimes I will even apply it if I’m not wearing foundation at all. If you are looking for a way to help illuminate your skin and add that extra special “je ne sais quoi” I highly recommend giving this product a try. In this case, luxury is absolutely worth it.
