Today I’m sharing my thoughts on two skincare products from a new-to-me brand that should definitely have your attention. The Graydon tagline is “Clinical Luxury by Nature” and the brand is all about plant-based ingredients for pure, luxurious products. There are no fillers, petrochemicals, artificial fragrances or dyes. I tried out the classic Graydon The Cleanser* as well as their new innovative launch, the Graydon Superfood Mask + Scrub*.
Graydon The Cleanser is filled with nourishing ingredients like aloe vera juice, coconut oil, and essential oils. It has a slightly creamy consistency and I actually find it smells quite a bit like lemongrass to me, but I’m not sure why since it actually contains a blend of pink grapefruit, geranium and blood orange.
After wetting my face, I use 1 to 2 pumps of the Graydon The Cleanser to cleanse my skin. Although it is supposed to remove makeup, I definitely prefer to use a more intensive remover first as I don’t find it does an adequate job on its own. However, I actually do love the cleanser itself, which is gentle but still does a great job cleansing, as my skin feels clean but not squeaky afterwards.
I was really enamoured with the idea of the Graydon Superfood Mask + Scrub as soon as I saw the new product. This bottle comes with 20 capsules, and each one contains enough product for one face mask. To apply, I pull apart the capsules and mix it in with water or Graydon The Cleanser, or my personal preference, a mix of both. You can either use it directly as a scrub, or leave it on for as long as you’d like as a face mask. Graydon also suggests that you can add yoghurt or honey to it for an extra boost.
The packaging of the Graydon Superfood Mask + Scrub is really gorgeous, but I have to admit I have a bit of difficulty opening the capsules. There’s actually a whole blog post on the Graydon website to help you get the hang of it, so I am sure I will get used to it more over time, but there’s definitely a bit of a learning curve with the first 1 or 2. Still, I think it’s a really neat idea because it’s perfect for traveling, and I love that you can customize by adding your own cleanser to bind the ingredients together.
The ingredients in the Graydon Superfood Mask + Scrub are all food grade and include matcha green tea, chia seeds and shiitake mushroom. It’s pretty powerful when applied and I can definitely feel it tingling. Washing it off afterwards you get the scrub benefits, and it feels almost like sand, so it’s also quite intensive. I definitely felt like my skin look refreshed and felt smoother after using it, but for me it’s a once-a-week kind of product and not one I would recommend for anyone with very sensitive skin.
I really love the creativity and great ingredients behind Graydon Skincare. I enjoyed both the Graydon The Cleanser and the Graydon Superfood Mask + Scrub and this is definitely a brand I’d be curious to try more from in the future. They actually have a product called Super Sensitive Skin Stuff that’s meant for people with sensitive skin (duh) and sounds really nourishing and lovely for the colder weather.
What do you think of the “face mask in a capsule” format?
