Friday Favourites: November 7th 2014

So every month I do a set of favourites, or at least I try to, but they are strictly beauty type favourites and basically products I have been using and loving that month. I want to incorporate more “random” and lifestyle favourites, and also help to make Writing Whimsy a little more personal, so I thought it would be fun to start a weekly feature. I have seen, especially on YouTube, a lot of people doing a “Friday Favourites” and I thought it would be a fun way to end off the week. I will be doing monthly beauty favourites, but you can expect to find things like TV, music, movies, books, and food in these weekly updates.  Basically, things that make me happy. I’m thinking I will usually try to include 5 things because that’s a nice number but I guess we will see how it goes!

1. Orphan Black (Season 1)

orphan blackWe just finished watching season 1, so no spoilers, but although it took awhile to get through the first few episodes I was totally hooked on this by end. Orphan Black stars Tatiana Maslany who does an amazing job portraying a handful of characters that are actually clones, which the main one, Sarah accidentally stumbles upon. All the characters are unique and interesting, and there is lots of intrigue in the storyline so I have really enjoyed it so far!

2. Ingrid Michaelson (“Afterlife” and “Fire”)

I somehow, in inability to keep up with music, missed out on the fact that Ingrid Michaelson actually has two new CDs… new as in, 2012 and 2014. But all is right in the world, and the songs “Afterlife” and “Fire” are the two that I have been playing on repeat the most. I am a huge fan of hers and really recommend clicking “play” and checking her out if you haven’t yet! I do this thing where I listen to the same song on repeat, and so far I’ve listened to “Afterlife” more than 60 times, and I’m not sick of it yet.

3. Pepperidge Farm Tortilla Crackers (Nacho Cheese)

Pepperidge Farm Tortilla Crackers Nacho CheeseMy boyfriend brought home a bag of these from his parents, and it turned out it’s a brand new flavour and it’s GLUTEN-FREE. Yum. They are really good and maybe not horrible for you, when it comes to a treat. So obviously I’m addicted now.

4. Redbubble

Red BubbleOne of the most exciting things I did this week was order holiday cards, and I found the absolute perfect ones on Redbubble. I don’t want to share the actual image because I want it to be a surprise for anyone who follows my blog and might get one, but suffice it to say, it’s amazing. Redbubble is kinda like Etsy but for images, so I think the artists upload the graphics and Redbubble does the printing, on cards or shirts or tote bags. I haven’t ordered from them before, so hopefully the quality lives up to the image, but it’s a great way to support an artist and get a gorgeous image. There was also an ongoing promo code for 15% which was nice, but if you sign up for their newsletter you do get 10% off your first order as well.

5. NaNoWriMo

Nano1My final favourite is a bit ironic because I should be working on it right now instead of this blog post, but there you go. Thanks partially to Kalyn’s encouragement as well as a local meet up, I ended up deciding to join in with NaNoWriMo again this year, which I skipped last year. So far, I am failing miserably and starting a few days late didn’t help either, but it’s the weekend now so I’m going to get writing. And writing. And writing! Are you doing it? Let me know so we can be writing buddies, cause I am going to need all the motivation I can get if I want to complete 50,000 words this month that aren’t about nail polish.

Well, what do you think of my Friday Favourites? What are yours?
