So I borrowed a digital copy of For Teenage Girls With Wild Ambitions and Trembling Hearts by Clementine von Radics from my library thinking it was an entire collection of poetry (and having adored Mouthful of Forevers by the author) but it turns out, it’s actually just one slightly longer poem. It’s a beautiful poem, an ode to brave and powerful teenage girls doing amazing things. Never named directly, the poem references historical and modern figures such as Joan of Arc, Cleopatra, and Malala. The poem is broken up so there’s really only a few lines on each page and some abstract graphics on the opposite page, which I assume would look really nice in a paper edition.
Even though For Teenage Girls With Wild Ambitions and Trembling Hearts was much shorter than I expected, I really enjoyed reading it, and I definitely think it would make an excellent gift for a teenage girl, but a lovely read regardless of age. I certainly plan to continue reading more from von Radics in the future.
