Is December still considered recent? Well, some time not too long ago Too Faced expanded their range of Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipsticks to include six in the Chocolate family, 3 classic shades as well as 3 metallic ones. I might be a little late to join in on the excitement but I have the Too Faced Chocolate Cherries*, Chocolate Honey*, Chocolate Milkshake*, Metallic Candy Bar*, Metallic Chocolate Diamonds*, Metallic Frozen Hot Chocolate* Melted lipsticks to share with you today.
First, a little background on the formula. The Too Faced Melted Lipsticks are exactly what they sound like, a lipstick-like formula in a squeezy tube with a soft applicator that is surprisingly precise. These Chocolate shades have a sweet, slightly artificial chocolatey scent that I really like, but no flavour (which I also really appreciate).
The first squeeze of a Too Faced Melted is the most satisfying… Here’s what it looks like! They have a really creamy consistency that is super comfortable to wear and although they apply glossy, they do dry down slightly over time. In comparison, the metallic shades have a more slippery consistency.
For a lipstick range inspired by shades of chocolate, the Too Faced Melted Chocolate Lipsticks have a nice variation. The classic shades are definitely more pigmented than the metallic ones which have a sheerer, slightly more liquid consistency.
The Too Faced Melted Chocolate Lipstick in Chocolate Cherries is a very dark reddish brown that still applies really evenly, which honestly surprised me a little since dark shades like this are so difficult to get right.
I really fell in love with the Too Faced Melted Chocolate Lipstick in Chocolate Honey, which is a warm, milk chocolate brown. I thought it might be too brown for me but it’s really flattering.
The Too Faced Melted Chocolate Lipstick in Chocolate Milkshake actually looks quite peach on me with some warm brown undertones. Yes, the formula is perfect on this one too. I just love these!
The Too Faced Melted Chocolate Lipstick in Metallic Candy Bar is a sheer, yellowish brown with shimmer. This shade gives a slight tint to the lips and the shimmer is quite natural. It was quite glossy and comfortable to wear.
If you are looking for full on metallic, then you definitely want the Too Faced Melted Chocolate Lipstick in Metallic Chocolate Diamonds. This shade is a sheer brown that is loaded with silver glitter, which was chunkier than the other shades and also the only one that felt a bit gritty on the lips. I definitely get the ‘diamonds’ inspiration!
The Too Faced Melted Chocolate Lipstick in Metallic Frozen Hot Chocolate is a rosy brown with pearl finish to the shimmer. This shade was the most pigmented from the Metallic options and also quite flattering to wear.
Overall, I think Too Faced has done an excellent job on the Too Faced Melted Chocolate Lipsticks! There’s a great variety of shades in cream and shimmery finishes, but the one I have gotten the most use out of so far is definitely the Chocolate Honey, which I highly recommend checking out if you are looking for a wearable brown.
