One of the products I like testing out and reviewing the most is definitely foundation, and there’s one in particular I’ve had my eye on for awhile, so when the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Pearl, Ivory and Vanilla landed in my mailbox I was pretty excited. This foundation is available in 18 shades, and the three that I have fall within the 5 lightest options.
In terms of packaging, the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation comes in a heavy frosted glass bottle with a great pump, black lid, and gold accents. It’s chic and effective. Although the foundation is oil-free, it includes hydrating ingredients like coconut water to keep from drying out your skin.
I’ve swatched the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Pearl, Ivory and Vanilla side-by-side for comparison and as you can tell the shade range is a little off. There’s actually a middle shade between Pearl and Ivory, Porcelain, which also looks like a great match for me but for winter skin, Pearl is perfect. Ivory is described as fair with neutral-to-golden undertone, and it’s honestly very yellow on me, so that’s something to keep in mind. Vanilla is fair/light with neutral-to-pink undertones, but it still looks pretty warm, and it is likely a shade I can use in another few weeks.
I love the Born This Way Foundation for warm skin, but if you are looking for a very cool-toned shade I’d recommend swatching in person to see which one might work.

In the above photos I’m wearing the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Pearl, and as you can tell it’s a pretty perfect match. It is medium, veering on full coverage. It’s also buildable and covers up all redness and imperfections for a flawless finish. I also find it’s very natural in appearance and doesn’t have a dull-matte finish like some higher coverage foundations can. The foundation blends well and is very longwearing without feeling, or looking, heavy on the skin. Bonus? It’s gorgeous in photos so it’ll definitely be making many more appearances on Writing Whimsy!
If you are looking to add a new longwearing, high coverage foundation to your collection I definitely recommend checking out the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation. It really gives a flawless finish!
Have you tried the Born This Way Foundation? There’s a matching concealer being released soon, and I’m very interested to see how they pair together!
