Goodbye summer, I am clearly all about the fall launches now and that includes a whole bunch of exciting new products from Estee Lauder. I’ve only tried a handful of makeup from Estee Lauder (you can see all my reviews of the brand here) but overall it’s been a positive experience, so I was thrilled to try out three new products from the brand covering my brows, eyes, and lips.
The three products that I received to review are the Estee Lauder Brow Now Brow Defining Pencil in Black*, the Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Defining Eyeshadow in Amber Intrigue, and the Estee Lauder Pure Color Matte Sculpting Lipstick in Unattainable*. All three products just go together perfectly for a simple and sleek fall look, so I’ll be reviewing them all and then sharing a look at the end!
I’m clearly all about brows lately, and having tried (and enjoyed) the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Brow Lift Duo in Black Brown last year, I was curious about their new brow launch. The Estee Lauder Brow Now Brow Defining Pencil in Black is quite different because it is a traditional pencil that does require sharpening. It’s available in 5 different shades, and I have the darkest one. I really love the Black shade because it’s cool-toned, and not intensely pigmented so it still looks naturally.
I apply the Estee Lauder Brow Now Brow Defining Pencil in Black by creating small strokes through my eyebrows, and then combing it out with the spoolie on the other end. I do find the spoolie a bit rough, which is weird. The product is actually pretty soft and creamy, in comparison to most brow products that are harder and a bit more waxy. That said, once I’ve applied it doesn’t smudge.
For the eyes, I received the Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Defining Eyeshadow in Amber Intrigue, which is one of 20 new shades available from the brand in a variety of finishes. The compact is navy blue and has one of those closures which are very friendly to nails. There’s a mirror on the lid and a tiny foam applicator on the bottom. I wish they’d skipped the applicator and made either the shadow larger, or the compact smaller, since I don’t expect my single shadows to come with a brush (and I would use a brush, not a foam applicator, to apply it). The Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Defining Eyeshadow in Amber Intrigue is a warm, amber brown with shimmer. You can apply these shadows wet or dry, but I rarely use wet shadows, and I like the intensity dry as it’s still quite nicely pigmented. It has a very fine consistency, that is pressed harder in the pan but soft once you go in with a brush, so that it’s not powdery to use. This is a lovely brown shade that is very easy to either incorporate into other eye looks, or wear on its own since it can be blended out very nicely. For swatches of Cheeky Pink, a gorgeous iridescent shade you can also use as a face highlighter, check out Natalie’s review.
The new Estee Lauder launch I’ve heard the most about are definitely the Pure Color Matte Sculpting Lipsticks, and it’s no surprise given how amazing the original lipsticks were (check out my review of Rebellious Rose here). All of the shades are very bold, so I picked out the Estee Lauder Pure Color Matte Sculpting Lipstick in Unattainable, which is a bright raspberry that looked gorgeous and is actually one of the more ‘natural’ options (ie: not purple).
As soon as I had the heavy, sleek tube with classic design and magnetic closure, I had a feeling but it took swiping Estee Lauder Pure Color Matte Sculpting Lipstick in Unattainable across my lips to know it was love. This lipstick has a vanilla scent and an incredibly creamy formula that is very comfortable on the lips. It’s also basically instantly opaque, and applies perfectly. I wouldn’t say it is totally matte as there is some sheen, but it is quite long-lasting to wear. The formula reminds me of Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipsticks, although I would say these are creamier.
For my full face of makeup I’m wearing the Estee Lauder Brow Now Brow Defining Pencil in Black, the Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Defining Eyeshadow in Amber Intrigue and the Estee Lauder Pure Color Matte Sculpting Lipstick in Unattainable. Asides from a generous coat of mascara (I’m loving the MAKE UP FOR EVER Smoky Stretch) and a couple dabs of concealer, that’s it. What an easy, classy look for fall. At least, I felt classy!
Estee Lauder has really done an amazing job with their Fall 2015 launches. Whether you’re looking for great brows, a fantastic new eyeshadow or a perfect lipstick formula, you need to check out the products they are launching. As always, I’m hoping for more neutral lipsticks, but even so, I’m in love!
