When it comes to cream polishes, Essie is really the best with a huge range of colours, affordable prices, adorable packaging, and a thin, narrow brush for precision. As usual, there are six shades in the Essie Winter 2014 Collection*, and I have four of them although unfortunately I missed out on the collection’s namesake and a real stunner, Essie Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low.
Essie Back in the Limo isn’t the most wintery shade, nor does it have the best formula in the Essie Winter 2014 Collection. I actually feel like this is more of a spring shade, but it is definitely year-round office appropriate. Unfortunately, it is still incredibly sheer with two coats, and manages to suffer from that streakiness that plagues most of these pale pinks even though I love the peachier tone to it.
There are two reds in the Essie Winter 2014 Collection and both of them are really nice. Essie Double Breasted Jacket is a coral-ish red that’s really bright and cheerful and could definitely be topped with a glitter for a more Christmas-y look to it.
My personal favourite of the four shades I tried from the Essie Winter 2014 Collection is definitely this one, which is Essie Jump in my Jumpsuit, a gorgeous dark cherry red that can probably do with one coat if you’re generous although I went with two for a more even finish.
Finally, because I’m going alphabetically through Essie Winter 2014 Collection, there is Essie Tuck It In My Tux, and I’m really sad to end with this polish because it is one of my very least favourite Essies…and I own, well, let’s just say a lot! It’s a sheer pale ivory that has even more formula issues than Back in the Limo, which is at least wearable. I went with two coats, and I will say it has a very glossy finish, but the uneven milky appearance is just not for me.
Overall, it feels weird to say this because I didn’t have it to swatch and share, but I think the polish you most need from this collection is definitely Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low, which is so pretty and festive for the season. I also recommend either red, but especially Essie Jump in my Jumpsuit, if you’re in need of a holiday red shade. What do you think of the Essie Winter 2014 Collection?
