This is a brand new polish I’ve gotten a few requests to share, and it’s definitely a summer favourite for me so I’m excited to have finally gotten my pictures together. It’s a lovely teal from their summer 2013 collection of the same name, Essie Naughty Nautical.
This is a teal green that is advertised as having shimmer and although there’s a hint of it in the bottle, there’s even less on the nail. I really couldn’t notice it at all, and I’m not really a fan of shimmer polishes as I definitely prefer cremes, so I think if there was much of a shimmer, I’d be picking up on it.
Essie Naughty Nautical really reminds of the David’s Tea teal, for those out there who have been looking for it (ie: Melissa and Kylie). I didn’t have a bag with me to compare because I’m supposed to not be buying tea, but it’s probably not perfect. Still for anyone looking for that bright cheerful colour, I’d say this is a pretty good match–it’s certainly good enough for me!
I don’t generally find their polishes incredibly opaque, but Essie Naughty Nautical worked well with two coats. There was a very faint VNL which you can maybe see a shadow of in my close-up photo, but I’m generally lazy and was quite happy with just the two coats. It seemed to chip fairly easily, but I am also trying out a new top coat by Wet ‘N’ Wild that was $2 so I’m not sure if I can blame the polish for that!
Overall, I thought the Essie Summer 2013 Collection was pretty boring and full of near-dupes for other polishes by them with the only difference being a hint of shimmer. Essie Naughty Nautical was the only one that grabbed me and I’m so glad I picked it up. It doesn’t really have that hint of shimmer, but it is a gorgeous summery colour that I enough to wear year round.
Have you picked up any polishes from the latest Essie collection? What do you think of Essie Naughty Nautical (how close is it to David’s Tea)?
(Side note: Whoever named this polish Naughty Nautical was crazy, how is this a nautical colour?)
