A couple months ago one of my favourite drugstore brands–affordable, great quality–came out with a new product that was perfect for me. And I didn’t try it! Luckily, that has all changed now lately I’ve been testing out the essence sheer & shine lipsticks in Cute Nude, I Feel Pretty, Glamour Queen and Like A Princess.
The essence sheer & shine lipsticks come in cute little lipstick tubes with a silver bullet and translucent lid tinted the same colour as the product inside. The lipsticks themselves have that essence ‘e’ embossed on them, which I always think is a pretty swanky touch for a lipstick that only costs a few dollars. There’s a nice vanilla scent to the lipsticks, although some smell a little plasticy.
The essence sheer & shine lipsticks are available in 13 shades and I have the ones Cute Nude (02), I Feel Pretty (09), Glamour Queen (10) and Like A Princess (13) which gives a pretty good idea of the range. Although this is a slightly sheer formula, as evidence by the lids, there’s definitely some pigment to the shades. The formula is incredibly comfortable to wear, these are definitely more like a tinted balm and remind me of the MAC Lustre formula in terms of being slightly translucent and easy to wear. As a result, they aren’t super long-wearing and you’ll have to reapply after 1-2 hours. But, you don’t need a mirror to do it!
The essence sheer & shine lipstick in Cute Nude (02) is a light, sheer, peachy nude with a little bit of shimmer.
The essence sheer & shine lipstick in I Feel Pretty (09) is a sheer berry red.
The essence sheer & shine lipstick in Glamour Queen (10) is a sheer shimmery dark rosy brown.
The essence sheer & shine lipstick in Like A Princess (13) is a hot pink red that’s definitely a bit more pigmented than the other shades, but still as a translucency that makes it more wearable for those scared of bright shades (ie: me).
I really love sheer, comfortable lipsticks so it’s sad it took me a little while to try these essence sheer & shine lipsticks, but once I did they were just as wonderful as I expected. If you’re looking for something easy to wear on your lips for any time of year, I definitely recommend checking out this formula!
