I’ve been sharing some gorgeous new essence gel nail polishes lately, but today I’m pulling out an oldie, the essence Lipstick in Creamy Nude. While I have shared some Essence Longlasting Lipstick shades in the past, this is the classic, basic formula available from the brand and a shade that caught my attention in store way back in the early beauty blogging days. I was going through my makeup collection, decluttering and looking for my favourite nude lipsticks and that’s how I fell back in love with the essence Lipstick in Creamy Nude.
The essence Lipstick in Creamy Nude comes in a lightweight, plastic tube with slightly shimmery finish. I like that the packaging makes the colour easy to identify, and while it doesn’t feel expensive, we are talking about a lipstick that retails for under $3.
While the outside shade of the essence Lipstick in Creamy Nude is a pretty good colour match for the lipstick inside, the lipstick itself has no shimmer in it. This is a pinky nude with a cream(y) finish. There’s a fruity scent to the lipstick but no flavour. You may have noticed by now I really hate flavoured lip products!
The essence Lipstick in Creamy Nude applies very evenly and has a moisturizing, glossy consistency. It is incredibly comfortable to wear and buildable. I generally apply two layers for a nearly opaque, smooth finish. As much as I like nude shades in the winter, that’s when my lips are suffering the most, and I definitely feel like this lipstick helps hide that and doesn’t dry out my lips at all.
The essence Lipstick in Creamy Nude is a very flattering nude shade that I find very wearable because it doesn’t pull too brown. I’m always a little wary of “concealer lips” and the hint of pink in this shade makes it a perfect every day shade, and a great one to pair with dramatic eye makeup (I’m wearing the Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix Eyeshadow Palette in the above photo). The glossy finish and the fact that lipsticks never last long on me mean I get about two hours of wear out of this shade, but it’s super easy to reapply, even without a mirror.
A lot of the shades in the essence Lipstick range have shimmer in them, which is disappointing to me because I prefer creams and I love this shade so much. However, if you are looking for a great, comfortable, nude lipstick, this essence Lipstick in Creamy Nude is a definite favourite of mine and HIGHLY recommended. It just also happens to be really affordable!
