There are plenty of awesome fall releases from essence, and I’ll be sharing quite a few of them with you over the next few weeks, but these are the ones I picked for my FOTD. I went with the All About Sunrise palette and focused my look around that. I used only essence products to create my look with the exception of my brows, otherwise, that’s it!
- essence all about sunrise eyeshadow palette*
- essence stays no matter what eye pencil & shadow in cute copper*
- essence LASH mania reloaded waterproof mascara*
- essence mattifying compact powder*
- essence longlasting lipstick in coral calling*
- essence silky touch blush in babydoll*
- essence match2cover! cream concealer*
The eyeshadow palette, mascara, lipstick and concealer are all new products for fall from essence, while the others ones are already apart of the permanent collection. There are also plenty of new shades of everything including nail polish, eyeshadow and ten shades of lipstick!
For my essence of Fall Beauty FOTD I went for my favourite bronzy browns on the eye, starting by using the essence stays no matter what eye pencil & shadow in cute copper along the upper and lower lash line, it has a very creamy and long-lasting formula and I’m a huge fan. The only thing that could make it better is if I didn’t need to sharpen it! There are two new shades for fall, twinkling turquoise and chocolate brownie and I want them both!
After, I added the first three shades of the essence all about sunrise eyeshadow palette, using going from lightest to darkest starting with my inner corner, and adding a hint of the bright yellow close to my lashes, and a hint of the darkest shade in my crease. I am really impressed with the formula on these shadows, they are very creamy and pigmented! They are also really buttery soft, which is probably why my palette didn’t travel perfectly, but as long as you don’t drop it you should be fine. The darkest shade was the only one that was a little patchy for me, but even that wasn’t too bad. As pretty as they are swatched, I still recommend primer to keep them lasting all day!
I also used two coats of the glamorous essence LASH mania reloaded waterproof mascara. I really liked the original version of this formula but found it could flake off a little bit which doesn’t seem to be a problem with the waterproof. It’s not ridiculously stubborn to remove either, and has a nice rubber brush that helps separate and lengthen the lashes, so definitely a great drugstore mascara pick. To see how it compares to other essence mascaras, I’ll be putting them all to the test in the coming weeks and sharing an essence mascara-off with you!
I have tried a couple essence blushes now and I am absolutely in love with all of them and really excited to try out the new fall shade, autumn peach. The shade I’m wearing, babydoll, is soft, natural pinky mauve with shimmer that is perfect for the fall.
The essence match2cover! cream concealer wouldn’t work for everyone, but I used the lighter shade to brighten my under eye and the darker on on my blemishes. You can also mix the shades together. It’s a very creamy concealer so I think it works best for “flat” imperfections like under eye darkness or healed blemishes, because I found otherwise it can emphasize dry patches.
I used the essence longlasting lipstick in coral calling, which is a bright coral pink that was the least outside my comfort zone of the three shades I tried (there are more neutral ones available as well!) I think the packaging on these is super sleek for drugstore and with the “e” embossing looks much more expensive than $2.99. It is pretty creamy and pigmented, but not moisturizing for me so best if you don’t have super dry lips.
Finally, I finished off my look with some essence mattifying compact powder, which is soft and transparent and does need to be reapplied but definitely helps mattify as well. It’s not my favourite for my purse because there’s no mirror or brush, but I like finishing my look with it before I leave the house. For mattifying on the go, there’s brand new essence all about matt! oil control paper*, which isn’t pictured but I did try out and like!
Well, enough writing, here’s the final look.
