I have what might be the cutest launch of 2016 so far to share with you today, the Disney Minnie by Sephora Collection. This adorable collaboration has a classic gold and black polka dot design with red accents. There are quite a few products launching including a stunning palette and brush set, but the ones I’ve been trying out include the Disney Minnie by Sephora Collection Minnie’s Black & White Felt Liner Duo*, Minnie’s Perfect Red Lipstick*, Minnie’s Inner Glow Luminizer Blush* and Reflection of Minnie Compact Mirror*. I’ll start off with the liners, because if you’ve been around Writing Whimsy awhile you know that liners are probably the least exciting makeup product ever to me. That said, the Disney Minnie by Sephora Collection Minnie’s Black & White Felt Liner Duo is really nice. The packaging is really cute and the lid snaps back on and closes securely. The felt tip applicator is fairly stiff which lets me get a much cleaner liner compared to the MAC Fluidline Pen I reviewed recently.
I tried pairing both liners from the Disney Minnie by Sephora Collection together and while the look was kinda strange looking from afar (which is why I removed it for my full face photos) I was really impressed by the precision and pigmentation of the liners. I think I would have been better off putting the black liner closer to my lash line though…thoughts?
It couldn’t be a Minnie collection without a red lipstick and the Disney Minnie by Sephora Collection Minnie’s Perfect Red Lipstick does not disappoint. The packaging is really sleek and made of metal, so it’s actually very heavy and feels expensive. The lipstick itself has the most adorable embossing on it, a Minne print on the top and xoxo Minnie written along the side. I’ll let you in on a secret–I’ve been applying this shade using the back of the bullet because I really don’t want to lose the imprint!
Applied to the lips, the Disney Minnie by Sephora Collection Minnie’s Perfect Red Lipstick is a bright red with a glossy finish. I don’t find it to be warm or cool-toned, and it applies gorgeously. This is definitely a flattering shade even with my dry lips that was quite comfortable to wear. While it’s obviously not transfer proof, it definitely lasts at least a few hours and leaves behind a light stain.
The Disney Minnie by Sephora Collection Minnie’s Inner Glow Luminizer Blush comes in a plastic black and gold compact with a large mirror on the lid. Of course the standout feature is the raised imprint of Minnie’s head sneaking into the corner.
Disney Minnie by Sephora Collection Minnie’s Inner Glow Luminizer Blush is peach with gold sparkle in it. It’s hard to capture on camera but it’s definitely quite sparkly so you are going to get quite a glow. I do find it can kick up a lot of powder when applied and isn’t super long wearing, but the end result is quite pretty.
I’m wearing the Disney Minnie by Sephora Collection in the above photo and of course I had to pair it with a pair of Minnie ears! These products all pair together really well for a classic, chic makeup with a bold lip, glowing cheek and simple liner on the eyes.
The final product I tried out was the Disney Minnie by Sephora Collection Reflection of Minnie Compact Mirror. The gold mirror unfolds to make a pair of Minnie ears, complete with the bow. It has the words xoxo Minnie printed on the inside and folds in half to an almost circular shape. It’s made of metal and feels quite heavy and well-made. It also comes with a gold and black pouch that is perfect for storing it or putting it in your purse.
If you’re a Minnie fan you’re going to be all over the Disney Minnie by Sephora Collection products when they launch in April, but even if you’re not there are some nice products worth picking up. My personal standout pick is definitely the Disney Minnie by Sephora Collection Minnie’s Perfect Red Lipstick. I’m also really excited to see reviews of the eyeshadow palette, cause it looks gorgeous! Is there anything on your shopping list?
