Dior Summer 2016 Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette in 536 Escapade ReviewAfter a super sunny Sunday (say that five times fast…) I can almost start to believe that summer is on its way, so it’s perfect timing that I’m able to share some of the stunning, Dior Summer 2016 Collection with you today. The adorable lineup of colourful product has a polka dot theme so I thought I would start off with two of the most exciting limited edition releases, the Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette in Bain de Mer and Escapade.

Although the boxes of the Dior Summer 2016 feature adorable polka dots, the packaging of the products themselves are consistent with the classic Dior: heavy black plastic with a silver logo. As always, eyeshadow palette also comes with a velvet pouch. Inside, there’s a large mirror as well as two applicators. Both have a traditional foam tip on one end, and the other end has either a pointed foam or a brush applicator. They are useful for touch ups during the day but I generally prefer a brush when applying.

The only thing that disappointed me in a little in what is going to be a very positive review about these eyeshadow palettes is that there was no special polka dot embossing on the shadows themselves. I guess after the Dior Holiday Collection I got spoiled! The palettes each contain 5 shades with Bain de Mer having beachy blues and red tones while Escapade features sunset oranges and browns.

Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette in 366 Bain de Mer Review 2 Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette in 366 Bain de Mer SwatchesThe Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette in 366 Bain de Mer includes a reddish coral with a golden sheen, a pink iridescent cream, an azure blue satin, a satin baby blue and a peachy shimmery beige. The formula on these shades is great and it’s nice to see the brights so pigmented (especially that blue!) This is another unexpected combination of colours from Dior, but after a Cranberry at Christmas and a lime green in the Spring, I don’t know how much longer I can say that about their colourful palettes.

In the above look I’m wearing the lightest shades from the Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette in 366 Bain de Mer on the inner corner, then I’ve blended it into the middle shade, using the reddish coral in the crease. I then applied that bright blue on the lower lash line (love!) The only shade I didn’t use was the baby blue. All the shadows blended great. I never use one for blog photos, but I do recommend a primer for all day wear, that said that blue did last all day without.

The Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette in 536 Escapade includes a light beige satin, a baby pink satin, a bronzed brown metallic, a shimmery creamsicle orange and a shimmery white. The formula is also great on these shades, especially the brown, although they can sheer out on the lid a bit.

In the above look I’m wearing the white from the Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette in 536 Escapade on the inner corner, the orange all over the lid, the bronze in the crease and I blended out all the shades and used the beige a brow bone highlight (it doesn’t really show up on my skintone). If you’re loving that burgundy mascara…stay tuned!

Dior Summer 2016 Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palettes SwatchesAfter a-DIOR-ing (hehe) last year’s Tie Dye Summer Collection I was pretty excited to see what Dior had in store for this year and so far they did not disappoint! Of course I’m still sorry if you missed out on the stunning Diorskin Nude Tan Tie Dye Edition Blushes (although there are some gorgeous new powders from the brand I hope to see reviewed elsewhere) but there are still plenty of gorgeous new pieces to pick up this year.

Which do you prefer, the Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots in Bain de Mer or Escapade? Let me know!
