I really love Dior polishes. They definitely have a price tag higher than the drugstore, but I have been incredibly impressed with the formula and brush of the shades I’ve tried before. However, there’s something even more special about the Dior State of Gold Holiday 2015 Diorific Vernis in State of Gold*, Gris-Or*, Passion* and Mystere*. From the gold boxes to the gorgeous packaging, these polishes just shout Christmas.
It takes me forever to use up a polish, but with the Dior State of Gold Holiday 2015 Diorific Vernis they are so gorgeous to display in the meantime. The colours are very Christmassy, golds and reds, and the rounded bauble packaging compliments the rest of the collection (check out the Dior Holiday 2015 Diorific Mat Velvet Colour Lipsticks here).
I was definitely concerned that the unusual shape of the Dior State of Gold Holiday 2015 Diorific Vernis would make it difficult to use, but even though the handle is a bit shorter it is still easy to hold. The brush itself is the same as the traditional Dior polish, which is perfect for a ‘two stroke’ nail and helps give even coverage.
Dior State of Gold Holiday 2015 Diorific Vernis State of Gold 001 is a silver and gold glitter that is the signature shade of the collection, and I understand why–just look at that sparkle! I used 2 coats, which was pretty good glitter coverage, so you could probably build it up to opacity, or layer it over something else (my preference). Removal was also not as difficult as I expected for a glitter!
Dior State of Gold Holiday 2015 Diorific Vernis Gris-Or 227 is a pale gold duochrome with a yellow and pink shift to it. Definitely a shade you have to see in person to full appreciate! This type of finish is often very streaky, and although there are a small amount of brushstrokes I didn’t find it too bad. I used 2 coats for opacity.
Dior State of Gold Holiday 2015 Diorific Vernis Mystere 991 is a burgundy cream polish. This vampy shade is definitely my favourite from the collection, it’s perfectly opaque in 2 coats and has a very glossy finish. Such a great shade for fall!
I paired the Dior State of Gold Holiday 2015 Diorific Vernis Mystere with an accent nail of State of Gold (one coat) and the shades look stunning together. The wear on this manicure was great. The shades were so glossy I didn’t use a top coat, and I still only had to remove it on day 6. I’m incredibly impressed!
Overall, the Dior State of Gold Holiday 2015 Diorific Vernis Collection is filled with classic Christmas shades with fantastic formulas. My personal picks are definitely Mystere and State of Gold, and I know it’s a combination I’ll be reaching for again as the holiday season gets closer! What’s your favourite?
