There are a lot of liquid lipstick options available, but one brand I hadn’t see it from yet was Dior, so I was excited to see them launch the Dior Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain in Versatile Satin, Shock Matte, Hologlam and Matte, as well as 26 other shades.
Packaged in a slender tube with a “cutout” window on the side that reveals the shade, the Dior Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stains have the same luxe packaging and rose scent that Dior is known for. There are three different finishes available, matte, satin, and metallic. There’s a doe foot applicator the holds a small amount of product so you don’t have to dip back in too frequently when applying.
Despite the “stain” in the name, these Dior Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stains have a creamy formula that’s comfortable to wear, and while it does mostly set, it doesn’t dry down completely which makes it much more comfortable to wear than most other brands, but still longer wearing than a lipstick.
Dior Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain in Versatile Matte is a strawberry red with a satin finish. This is definitely a more summery red to me, but it’s really pretty, there is a small hint of streakiness but it is not noticeable except when you are zoomed in a cm away from my lips like in these swatches.
Dior Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain in Shock Matte is a fluorescent magenta with a matte finish. I do not find these shades at all flattering on me, but again, the formula is good.
Dior Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain in Hologlam is a silver metallic and yeah, this is an unusual lipshade. I definitely think this would work better as a lipstick “topper” because of how uneven it is, but it really is holographic and reflective (and it is just as hard to get the sparkles off your face as you would expect). Definitely makes an impact and it was fun to see this in the Dior lineup.
Dior Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain in Matte is a classic red matte, and this is definitely my favourite shade and formula out of the ones I tried. This beautiful red is a perfect way to wear a colour that’s usually more troublesome, but greatly reduce the chance of smudging. It’s a really perfect classic red from Dior, in a new formula.
I honestly don’t get a ton of use out of liquid lipsticks because my lips are always so dry, but when it is time for a fancy event, they are 100% what I read for so I know my lipstick will last and not be all over my teeth. This holiday season, the Dior Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stains are a great option for those events, especially if you are looking for a classic red in the shade Matte, while Versatile Satin and Shock Matte are great for the spring, and Hologlam is a fun and unique shade for any time of year.
