Well, Halloween is over, so it’s about to get full on Holiday mode on Writing Whimsy. I’ll have much more content starting next week, but let’s ease in with these gorgeous Dior Holiday 2015 Diorific Mat Velvet Colour Lipsticks* from the State of Gold Collection. There are four shades available, and I have all of them to swatch and share with you.
First off, of course I have to talk about the packing. Now, all Dior packaging is pretty luxe, but the Dior Holiday 2015 Diorific Mat Velvet Colour Lipsticks take it ever further than usual. The gold lipstick tube with a bulb on each end definitely have a festive feel to them and is unlike any other lipstick packaging I have seen. There is also a decent weight to the lipsticks, so they feel expensive.
In terms of the shade range, I think that the Dior Holiday 2015 Diorific Mat Velvet Colour Lipsticks are very well-curated, there are two more neutral shades and two vibrant options. The only thing I might add is a shade in the berry family. But now I’m just getting greedy. The formula is very creamy and comfortable to wear. The shades vary in how matte they are, but all of them have at least a slight sheen to them.
The Dior Holiday 2015 Diorific Mat Velvet Colour Lipstick in Radieuse 430 is a peachy nude. I find this shade a tiny bit less even than the others (which are all perfect) but it is still great when you aren’t zoomed in an inch from my mouth. Also, to be fair, my lips are very dry and I was really impressed any of these looked as good as they do.
The Dior Holiday 2015 Diorific Mat Velvet Colour Lipstick in Fascinante 580 is a rosewood. No surprise this is my personal favourite, because it’s a gorgeous natural shade with perfect pigmentation. LOVE.
It wouldn’t be a Dior Holiday collection with the Dior Holiday 2015 Diorific Mat Velvet Colour Lipstick in Fabuleuse 750, a classic red. I’m a little scared of red lipstick, but I really want to wear a shade like this to a holiday party, because it’s so glamorous.
The most unexpected shade was the Dior Holiday 2015 Diorific Mat Velvet Colour Lipstick in Fantastique 770 which is a bright fuchsia. It applies gorgeously and this is definitely a shade you could wear year round.
While the Dior Holiday 2015 Diorific Mat Velvet Colour Lipsticks aren’t the kind of super drying mattes that last for weeks on your lips, I do get at least a few hours wear–longer for the more vibrant shades. They do have a slight sheen, although that wears down over time. However, the best part is that your lips won’t feel like the Sahara when it’s time to reapply. As expected, the Dior Holiday 2015 Diorific Mat Velvet Colour Lipsticks are luxurious in both packaging and formula. My personal pick for a shade I’d wear everyday is definitely Fascinante 580, but there’s something extra special about a Dior red lipstick and Fabuleuse 750 is stunning.
The Dior Holiday 2015 Diorific Mat Velvet Colour Lipsticks are definitely lipsticks to treasure, and any shade would make an amazing gift this holiday season–maybe even the kind of gift you treat yourself to! Do you have a favourite shade?
