I’ve shared the lipsticks, polishes, and glosses from the stunning Dior Holiday 2015 Collection, and now all that’s left is eyeshadow. There are two 5 Couleurs State of Gold Eyeshadow Palettes available, Eternal Gold* and Blazing Gold*, and I have swatches and makeup looks for both of them in today’s post.
Dior 5 Couleurs State of Gold Eyeshadow Palettes are limited edition but come packaged in the classic black cases as usual. I’ll be honest, there’s a part of me that wishes they were gold! The lid is embossed with Dior and each comes with its own velvet pouch. There is a large mirror on the inside, which can actually snap back to hold water if you want to use the shadows wet.
Teh Dior 5 Couleurs State of Gold Eyeshadow Palettes in 576 Eternal Gold and 886 Blazing Gold include a mix of cool-toned or warm-toned shimmery shades. The middle shade is embossed with the CD design, and the other shades have a zig-zag pattern, which I personally prefer to the fall collection. Each palette also includes two applicators.
First up is the Dior 5 Couleurs State of Gold Eyeshadow Palettes in 576 Eternal Gold, a lovely blend of green-grey neutrals. It includes a pale khaki shimmer, a shimmery peachy nude, a mauve taupe shimmer, a black with silver glitter, and a pale white gold shimmer. The shades are all creamy although most are quite muted, I still love their formula for an easy, every day look. Honestly, these holiday launches are two of the best Dior palettes I’ve tried and so lovely to wear.
In the above look I used the peachy nude from the Dior 5 Couleurs State of Gold Eyeshadow Palettes in 576 Eternal Gold on the inner corner, and the khaki as a lid shade with the taupe in the crease. I applied the black glitter to the lower lash line, and the middle shade as a cheek highlight–because why not? Lasting power is pretty good on all the shades but always benefits from a primer.
From the entire Dior Holiday 2015 Collection there was one piece I was most excited for, and that’s the Dior 5 Couleurs State of Gold Eyeshadow Palettes in 886 Blazing Gold. It did not disappoint. There’s a bright metallic cranberry, a pale pink shimmer, a metallic medium brown, a brown black with silver sparkles, and a light champagne shimmer. I adore these shades and the pigmentation is also gorgeous, especially on the red and brown. I will say that applied the last two shades in this palette look quite similar to those in Eternal Gold, and I wish there was more differentiation on the lid to help justify buying both!
I couldn’t wait to wear the Dior 5 Couleurs State of Gold Eyeshadow Palettes in 886 Blazing Gold and I have the pale pink on the inner corner, the cranberry all over the lid (obviously!) and the brown in the outer third and crease. I used a damp brush to apply the glittery shade to my lower lash and water line, and use the iridescent middle shade as a face highlight. I thought that applying the glittery shade wet would improve pigmentation and lasting power, but honestly it worked just as well dry.
I don’t always fawn over Dior eyeshadow palettes, but with the Dior 5 Couleurs State of Gold Eyeshadow Palettes in 576 Eternal Gold, and especially 886 Blazing Gold, I mean it. The shades are creamy, pigmented and blendable–basically all those good shadow buzz words. I was really looking forward to trying out Blazing Gold and the stunning palette did not disappoint! I love neutrals but given what a gorgeous job Dior did on this cranberry shadow, I am definitely hoping for more colourful shades in the future.
I feel like I already know but just in case… Which one is your favourite?
