In addition to two new stunning Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palettes (reviewed here), there’s a third new palette and this one is sticking around. The Dior Eye Reviver Illuminating Neutrals Palette*, contains six shades including a primer and a liner, and comes in a sleek and sturdy compact with a silver lid, mirrored top, and of course the signature Dior velvet pouch.
Although the truth is I don’t travel enough to need that many travel-friendly palettes, I also like to not have to dig around in my makeup collection just to put an eye look together every morning. The Dior Eye Reviver Illuminating Neutrals Palette definitely makes applying makeup easy, because it has everything you need. Each of the shades is embossed with Dior, which is a really pretty touch although it does fade with use. There are also two brushes, one is a liner brush and the other is a dual-ended one with a foam applicator and a brush. The brush quality is actually pretty good, and I used only them to apply my makeup for this post.
Dior Eye Reviver Illuminating Neutrals Palette contains a base/primer shade which is a cream with a hint of shimmer and a buttery formula, which works great for as a browbone highlight or base shade although it definitely won’t replace actual primer. Next up is really pretty shimmery nude that makes a great inner corner highlight. For all over the lid, there’s a subtle shimmery light brown taupe.
My favourite shade from the Dior Eye Reviver Illuminating Neutrals Palette is definitely number 4, which is a pigmented metallic brown that I used in the crease with a touch of the next shade, although it’s so pretty it would make a stunning lid shade as well. The fifth shadow shade is a dark brown with gold sparkle. Finally, there’s a soft black liner that’s buildable and quite nice, although I wish there was a way to keep it separate from the powder shades as that’s always a bit of a concern–however these aren’t powdery shadows so it hasn’t been an issue so far.
Although all the shades except for the liner in the Dior Eye Reviver Illuminating Neutrals Palette have shimmer in them, they blend together to create a look that definitely has that ‘illuminating’ effect that brightens the eyes rather than overwhelming with sparkle. Even with the liner, the resulting effect is quite subtle and pretty, and I think the fact that the liner isn’t super black helps. Unfortunately I didn’t find the wear on these shadows to be quite as good as the Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palettes, although the liner actually lasted perfectly all day!
Although I still prefer the Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in Ambre Nuit for neutrals, the Dior Eye Reviver Illuminating Neutrals Palette is another lovely and easy to use palette from Dior that’s great for daily use (and also less overly warm). I also just love that shimmery brown shade #4! What do you think of this palette?
