I was a little slow at writing today’s post but it’s not because it’s not awesome. It’s because I was in Montreal and then I was sick and now here I am, mostly not sick, or at least determined to get some blogging in and talk all about three (relatively) new awesome face products from Dior, the Dior Diorskin Forever & Ever Wear Primer Base*, the Dior Backstage Blender*, and the Dior Diorskin Forever Perfect Makeup Fluid Foundation in Ivory*.
This new trio of Dior products is everything you need for a long lasting, gorgeous coverage. Alone, each of these products is great. But together…get ready for flawless skin.
Before the Dior Diorskin Forever & Ever Wear Primer Base, I had pretty much stuck to green primers in order to colour correct my redness. However, I am absolutely in love with this milky pink option that gives a slight brightness to the skin, provides SPF20 protection, and best of all gives a smooth, even texture for foundation. I really notice a difference in how foundation sinks into my fine lines when I don’t use this primer. It also has a lotion-like consistency that is really great in the winter for my dry skin. Finally, it does exactly as promised and extends the wear of my foundation. I really love this primer.
I generally apply foundation with my fingers, so I’m always skeptical of anything that sounds like it would be more work, including the Dior Backstage Blender. However this is another product I am totally hooked on. This is a very dense sponge that you use dry with foundation. It is dense enough that it doesn’t really absorb foundation, although I also find that means it also gets stained from the foundation. I love how the different sides and edges help blend and reach different areas of your face, and I especially like using the rounded side to evenly dab and blend into my skin. Using the Dior Backstage Blender definitely gives me a more even finish than my fingers, as well as help build up coverage.
Finally, there’s the Dior Diorskin Forever Perfect Makeup Fluid Foundation in Ivory (010). There are 16 shades available and Ivory is the lightest. It swatches dark but blends out into the skin somehow so it looks perfect on me, but may not work for the lightest skintones out there. It comes in a gorgeous glass pump bottle and contains SPF 35 . As you can see, it has a matte finish when it dries down and it is definitely a non-oily foundation. If you have any super dry patches I don’t think this is the right choice, but paired with the Dior Diorskin Forever & Ever Wear Primer Base it works perfectly on me.
In the above collage you can see how the products all look together on my skin. There’s a noticeable difference even with just the Dior Diorskin Forever & Ever Wear Primer Base. I applied the Dior Diorskin Forever Perfect Makeup Fluid Foundation in Ivory with the Dior Backstage Blender and it gives gorgeous, camera-ready medium coverage. The combination lasts all day. Not even just all work day, like, when I go to bed at night there is loads of foundation on my face to remove. Part of the reason my review of these products took longer than expected is I kept putting them in my “to review” pile and then pulling them back out because I wanted to use them again even though I was done testing. My skin just looks so great when using this trio! The Dior Diorskin Forever & Ever Wear Primer Base, the Dior Backstage Blender, and the Dior Diorskin Forever Perfect Makeup Fluid Foundation in Ivory all get full marks from me but the surprising product that won over my heart the most? Definitely the primer!
