You may remember that almost a year ago I shared the exciting relaunch of the Dior Diorshow Mascara which included Black as well as several other exciting shades like Brown and Purple options. Well, things got even more exciting with the new Diorshow 2016 Collection which includes not only a limited edition Pro Navy and Pro Magenta option, but also a brand new Diorshow Maximizer 3D Triple Volume.
First off, the packaging. The Dior Diorshow Mascara in Pro Navy and Pro Magenta come in the exact same tubes as the permanent shades, but are easy to tell apart because they have a colour-coded sticker on the bottom. In contrast, the Dior Diorshow Maximizer 3D comes in the same packaging except that the tube is white, also super easy to tell apart.
Dior Diorshow Mascaras packaging has an “Air-Lock” wiper that helps prevent the mascara from drying out. Honestly, almost a year after my first Dior mascara review I can say that it works–I still have one or two of those mascara (I know, I will toss them) and they haven’t dried out at all. I suspect that as long as you have product left in the tube, you don’t have to worry about it drying out.
While the Dior Diorshow Mascara in Pro Navy and Pro Magenta have a distinct rose scent to them, I can’t really tell really tell if there is a fragrance to the Dior Diorshow Maximizer 3D–to me it mostly just smells like makeup. The mascaras have the classic Diorshow brush, which are large with natural bristles that slightly tapper to a point. In comparison, the Diorshow 3D Maximizer has very tiny, synthetic bristles.
I love all three products I’m sharing today, so let me tell you why, starting with the Dior Diorshow Mascara in Pro Navy. It separates the lashes, adding volume, a little bit of curl and length. The dark blue shade helps brighten the whites of your eyes, which you can actually tell even by comparing this before/after to the Pro Magenta one. It’s definitely a more subtle colourful mascara, but I love the end result. I do wish the brush was a little smaller though as I sometimes end up with a touch of mascara along my eyelid (you can probably spot it in the above photo).
Next up is the Dior Diorshow Mascara in Pro Magenta. This shade has the exact same benefits of the Pro Navy but with the added benefit of being a burgundy mascara! How cool is that? I just love the unique shade and I think it looks great with green/brown/hazel eyes like I have. Another thing I love about these mascaras is that they don’t leave my lashes at all “crunchy” feeling. It does flake a very small amount on me, which is a probably I always have, but honestly it wasn’t even really noticeable with these mascara.
In addition to four new colourful mascara shades, there’s the Dior Diorshow Maximizer 3D. This volume plumping lash primer can be used both under mascara, and as a night time treatment. It has a lightweight texture and contains an oil serum concentrate for stronger, smoother lashes. It’s also got a crystal white complex to amplify the colour of any mascara.
In the above photo I’m showing the Pro Magenta on the (your) left, and then the Maximizer on the right, and then with the Pro Magenta mascara applied on top. I have had past issues with lash primers still being visible even after I applied mascara and that was not an issue here. It adds a slight length to my lashes, and helps them separate better, but I don’t think it’s a dramatic difference.
The Dior Diorshow Maximizer 3D definitely made the burgundy colour more obvious when applied underneath the Pro Magenta mascara, so it does work as a “colour-booster”. Finally, in terms of a lash treatment, I haven’t used it regularly enough to tell yet, but I’ll let you know what the results are like when I finish up the tube!
I’m always going to be excited about a new launch from Dior, but I think the Dior Diorshow Mascaras in Pro Navy and Pro Magenta are a lot of fun and definitely worth picking up before they disappear if you are looking for a unique, colourful mascara. You can also find them in the LE shades Pro Mahogany and Pro Anthracite. In terms of the Dior Diorshow Maximizer 3D, my first impressions are good but I’ll be curious to see how it works over time!
Have you ever used a coloured mascara? What do you think of these new launches from Dior?
