Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Contraste Horizon & Ambre Nuit

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Contraste Horizon 3 4Although there are many products from Dior I’ve lusted over, for some reason I have always been a little skeptical of their eyeshadow palettes. However, there are two new launches for the Dior Summer 2015 collection, so I got a chance to test them out for myself, and obviously I will be telling you what I thought!

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Ambre Nuit 3The two new palettes are the Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Contraste Horizon* and Ambre Nuit*. Both come in the traditional black plastic embossed with Dior, a mirror on the lid, two applicators (regular foam on one end, one with a pointed foam end and one with a brush on the other end) and a lovely little velvet pouch.

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Contraste Horizon 2The Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Contraste Horizon and Ambre Nuit contains five shades, with the centre one having the Dior logo embossed on it, and the outer shades having a quilted design. They definitely look luxe, but my favourite touch is the press-to-open closure that prevents any struggle or potential nail breakage!

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Contraste Horizon Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Contraste HorizonThe Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Contraste Horizon is the limited edition palette exclusive to the Dior Summer 2015 Tie Dye Collection, and contains wearable shades with a stunning pop of colour. There’s a shimmery pale green and pale gold, both of which are fairly sheer but still useful although the palette probably didn’t need both. There’s a flawless metallic brown and an equally flawless oceanic blue, both shades are buttery and pigmented without being powdery and as soon as I swatched them I knew I was wrong about Dior shadows! Finally there is a matte pale lavender, that has a nice formula but is quite subtle.

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Contraste Horizon 2 Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Contraste HorizonIn the above photos I used the pale shimmery gold from the Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Contraste Horizon to highlight my inner corner, then applied brown on the inner third and blended the marine blue over the crease, into the brown and on the outer edge of my lower lash line. Finally, I highlighted my brow bone with the pale matte lavender, and use it to blend out the shades. Wear on all the shadows was excellent, but especially the blue and brown.

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Ambre Nuit Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Ambre NuitThe second option for eyeshadows from the Dior Summer 2015 Tie Dye Collection is a permanent edition to the line, and that’s the Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Ambre Nuit. This amber-inspired palette is gorgeous for neutral lovers and includes a pale peachy satin and a buttery gold-leaning metallic taupe that is my personal favourite from the palette. There’s also an intense brown with gold sparkles and a creamy satin nude taupe. Finally, the middle shade is an incredibly shimmery peachy pink.

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Ambre Nuit 2 Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Ambre NuitOf course, I had to show you what the Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Ambre Nuit shadows looked like applied, so I created a neutral-loving look knowing that I was going to add a pop of colour from the Diorshow Khol Stick in Pearly Turquoise (review coming) on the lower lash line. I used the pale shimmery shade on my inner corner and was really impressed by how well it showed up. I then added the metallic taupe all over the lid, and use some of the sparkly brown to darken up my crease, before adding a small amount of the shimmery highlight to my brow bone. I did use a little of the satin taupe for blending.

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Ambre Nuit 2 I am really enjoying the Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Contraste Horizon and Ambre Nuit options. Although not all the shades are intensely pigmented, they do have a very nice consistent to them and none of them are powdery or chalky at all, so they blend great and look very nice applied. I think these palettes are the perfect little duo release because there is one with bright summer colours, and another for neutral lovers. I’m going to shock everyone and say that if you just grab one, my personal pick is Contraste Horizon! I cannot get over that brown and blue.
