It’s a polish-heavy week here at Writing Whimsy and it’s not over yet! I’m actually off on a long weekend away, and apparently when I’m feeling lazy and have to pre-schedule posts you get nail polish. Still, today’s polish is Deborah Lippmann Cleopatra in New York, and it’s gorgeous!
As evidence of how ridiculous my nail polish collection is, I first purchased Deborah Lippmann Cleopatra in New York as a part of Sephora Superstars Kit almost two years ago. Yes, that’s embarrassing. To be fair, it spent a year not at my apartment after a move, but now it’s back and with the Canadian Beauty Bloggers doing an October Nail Art Challenge, I pulled it out for the theme ‘black’ on day 1. I then proceeded to not do any of the other days. Sorry!
Deborah Lippmann Cleopatra in New York is a stunner. It’s a black jelly polish loaded with metallic gold medium and large hexes. I think it’s the perfect balance between a base that’s sheer enough to let the glitter shine through, and opaque enough not to look patchy or need a base colour. I went with 2 coats and it was perfect. It’s a little textured from the glitter, so I’ve applied one layer of Seche Vite on top in these photos.
The only thing that might scare you away from Deborah Lippmann Cleopatra in New York is the removal process–and I have a secret! I used the OPI Glitter Off! Base Coat and had no issues peeling it off for removal, although it doesn’t last as long (about 2 days).
Truth is… Deborah Lippmann Cleopatra in New York isn’t the only untried Deborah Lippmann in my collection, but I honestly think it’s the prettiest! Am I the only one with an embarrassing stash of untried polishes? Have you tried any Deborah Lippmann polishes before?
