I don’t know what it is, but masks are definitely my favourite part of skincare. My second favourite, if you’re wondering, are serums. I just love how many different targeted masks there are, and how they are basically forced relaxation. I mean, how can you be stressed out when your face is covered in paste? Hardly. So I was thrilled to try out two new masks, the Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Charcoal Mask* and the Clinique Even Better Brightening Moisture Mask*.
Something that I’ve only discovered about “masking” since becoming a blogger is the idea of using more than one mask at a time. Well, not at the same time, but one after another. The idea is to really purify your skin, clean out your pores, and then give some moisture back to your skin. It’s my favourite thing to do with any mask that might potentially be drying, so I immediately knew I would want to use Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Charcoal Mask and the Even Better Brightening Moisture Mask together.
My first step is to apply the Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Charcoal Mask. This is the first charcoal mask from Clinique and it’s filled with ingredients to miminize the appearance of pores, absorb oil and leave your skin feeling fresh and clean. It absolutely does all of those things. I apply a thin layer to clean skin, and leave it on for about ten minutes. It does tighten over time and my face just feels so refreshed when I’m done with it, thanks to the charcoal powder and clay. This is a smooth mask, not thick and chunky, so it’s easy to spread on and easy to remove. Total love.
As I said, I love following up a purifying mask with a moisture-boosting one because they do dry out my skin a bit. A great option is the new Clinique Even Better Brightening Moisture Mask. This is basically like applying a thick cream, and although it is white at first, I find it sorta melts into my skin over time and is translucent ten minutes later. You are actually able to either pat it into your skin, or rinse it off. I much prefer rinsing, but I can see patting it in for maximum benefit, I just felt like it left my skin feeling greasy. I’m not quite as in love with it as the Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Charcoal Mask, but it is a nice second step because my skin does feeling softer and less dry afterwards.
I love including masks as a part of my skincare routine, and it’s definitely something I need to do more often. I have no excuse now that I have the new Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Charcoal Mask and the Even Better Brightening Moisture Mask to reach for! I love this combo together but for me the real standout is the great charcoal mask.
Do you ever double mask?
