When the Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primers were released last year the beauty world went a little crazy. I was still really excited to learn the range had been expanded to include the to the Clinique Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primers I reviewed earlier this week as well as the Clinique Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primer*, a sheer but colourful lipstick.
The packaging of the Clinique Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primer mimics the originals but with a translucent base instead of opaque plastic. Considering these are a sheer version of the product, it’s pretty perfect. They are also still really colourful and cheerful, and I love how easy it is to tell the shades apart.
There are 6 shades available in the Clinique Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primer and I received 5 of them: Melon Drop Pop, Bubblegum Pop, Sugar Plum Pop, Sprinkle Pop and Licorice Pop. The missing shade is the bright red Fireball Pop. I love the cute candy names, and even though they all have a translucency to them, you can definitely distinguish between shades. So clearly, you need them all. Lasting power is similar to a tinted balm, about an hour or two, but they are really comfortable to wear and easy to reapply.
The Clinique Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primer in Melon Drop Pop is a sheer peach. Honestly, this is the perfect orange shade for people who are scared of orange (like me), it’s super flattering on the lips and just makes me think of warm weather.
The Clinique Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primer in Bubblegum Pop is a sheer bubblegum pink. Pale pinks are the one lip colour I have the most difficulty pulling off, and in general they tend to struggle when it comes to formula as well. The milky nature of Bubblegum Pop makes appear a little streaky upclose in comparison to the other shades. However, from a regular distance it’s actually probably my favourite baby pink I’ve used since the fact that it’s a bit sheer makes it way more wearable.
The Clinique Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primer in Sugar Plum Pop is a sheer mauve. This shade is the sheerest of the ones I tried and it’s also pretty close to my natural lip colour, although it does tone down the pink. It’s a really pretty My Lips But Better (MLBB) shade that’s also super comfortable and moisturizing to wear especially since my lips are quite dry right now.
The Clinique Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primer in Sprinkle Pop is a sheer pink berry. I’ve really fallen in love with this shade which just makes my lips look so juicy! It’s really flattering to wear and I highly recommend it.
The Clinique Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primer in Licorice Pop is a sheer reddish plum. This was the only shade I found settled a little bit into lip lines, but again, from a regular distance you couldn’t tell and it was still really pretty.
I absolutely adore comfortable, wearable lip colours so the Clinique Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primer are pretty much my ideal product. They are shimmer-free and looked great even on my dry lips. To me, these are vary comparable to the Dior Addict Lipsticks, which I also love, but retail for almost double the price.
What do you think of the Clinique Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primer? Do you have a favourite shade?
