In addition to all the lovely makeup that Clinique released for Spring (seriously go check out the Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primers and Clinique Chubby in the Nude Foundation Stick) the brand launched the Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream*. This eye cream promises to refresh and hydrate your eyes and comes in an adorable little orange tube.
The packaging of the Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream is actually quite unique. Once you remove the cap, you actually have to pull out the bauble and then squeeze it to release cream. When you are done and snap the bauble back, any excess is pushed out so the opening doesn’t get clogged and gross. You can apply it directly to your eyes with the bauble, but I don’t find the plastic applicator very comfortable and wish it was metal instead, since I think that would be super soothing! I prefer to dispense the cream onto my fingertip, close the tube to make sure I have any excess, and then apply.
For some reason–I guess the colour–I thought that the Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream would smell like oranges but like all Clinique products it is fragrance-free, which is actually kinda nice because a lot of makeup/skincare brands do make highly scented products. I get an immediate cooling sensation with apply the cream to eyes, and it instantly hydrates the area. It’s so refreshing to use! The formula is oil-free and while it is very rich and nourishing, it absorbs well into the skin and can definitely be used morning or night. I wait maybe a minute but have no issues applying makeup afterwards.
I don’t think I’ve ever notice a longterm change when using an eye cream, and I haven’t noticed one yet with the Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream, but I will report back in my empties. However the hygienic packaging, and cooling, moisturizing results definitely make this an enjoyable eye cream to use. I especially recommend the fragrance-free, allergy and ophthalmologist-tested formula if you have sensitive eyes.
