When the Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick formula was released, all the reviews said how creamy, pigmented and wonderful they were, so they’ve been on my wishlist ever since. Today I have five shades of Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick to share with you, Suede*, Crimson*, Peony*, Petal* and Magenta*.
All of the Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipsticks come in the same silver packaging, which looks sleek and has a nice texture to it although I have to store them upside down in order to tell them apart.

The actual finish of the Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipsticks still has a bit of shine, but it is really creamy and even to apply, especially the brighter and more pigmented shades. There is no scent to the lipstick.
I’d say I’m getting the disappointment out of the way first, but I’m actually reviewing these in numerical order, starting with Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick in Suede. This nude shade was the only one that was a bit tricky for me, and as you can tell, it was not quite pigmented enough for even coverage, even when I built it up. It was also a little less creamy than the other shades.
With shades like Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick in Crimson, I might be slowly won over to a red lip! This true red shade applies gorgeously with a creamy, pigmented formula that really just glides on for a flawless finish. Although the shades aren’t matte enough to be totally transfer-proof, they are really comfortable to wear.
Next up is a trio of pinks, starting with Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick in Peony, a warm pink so bright it’s almost neon. This was a little less creamy than Crimson, but still gave opaque even coverage. It’s a great summery shade but I don’t think it’s the most flattering on me.
Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick in Petal is a light pink that’s really creamy although I found it didn’t apply quite as evenly as the other shades (besides Suede). The real issue is that I don’t find this shade flattering on me, but I think if it works for you it could be a really pretty every day shade.
My favourite from the three pinks is a bit of a surprise, it’s Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick in Magenta. It’s a very bold almost Barbie pink with an incredibly creamy formula that’s a tiny bit more sheer. However it applies very evenly and looked great even though it was the fifth one I put on for these photos. Thought it became less creamy as worn, it was never drying.
The Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipsticks have a great creamy formula that makes (semi)matte wearable even during the winter months. Overall, the shades are really vivid and easy to apply. There’s a great mix of shades available, and the ones that I am missing also look quite stunning! Out of these, my favourites are Crimson and Magenta. What’s yours?
