Today I have two products from the Clarins Opalescence Collection and I’ll tell you upfront: I’m in love with both of them. I have the Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base in Champagne* and Clarins Multi-Blush Cream Blush in Candy*. Both products are available in other shades, and there are also plenty more products in the collection, which is perfect for a glowy, radiant look for spring.
I hadn’t tried a new base in quite awhile so I was excited to test out the Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base in Champagne, which is a moisturizing base that illuminates and corrects. The shade Champagne yellow-based to correct redness, and it has light coverage I find similar to a tinted moisturizer. You will definitely still need a concealer if you have any blemishes, or you could wear a foundation on top. There is definitely a luminous glow to my skin when I wear this, and I find that applying foundation on top really hides that, so I prefer to wear the Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base on its own.
I have been loving wearing the Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base in Champagne on my skin (see my March Favourites) as winter finally starts to end as I think it gives me a bit of the “spring glow” I don’t have yet. You could also wear this by mixing it in with your foundation, or by just applying it to areas you want a subtle glow on. I do find it pretty moisturizing, but it also absorbs easily and doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy. I do wish there was SPF involved, and I don’t find it lasts quite all day on my oilier areas so I don’t see myself wearing it in the hottest months however I absolutely love the glow that it gives to my skin.
I adore my cream blushes and I have tried quite a few good ones lately, so Clarins Multi-Blush Cream Blush in Candy had high standards to live up to. I think it differs from other products I’ve tried because of how dramatic the cream-to-powder transition is. You get the ease of application and natural look of a cream blush, with the lasting power and finish of a powder, making it great for oily skin. I will definitely be wearing this during the summer to see how it holds up! Right now it lasts all day on my skin (7-8 hours). However because of how much like a powder it becomes, I much prefer it on my cheeks than lips where I think it looks powdery and is drying. Despite its name, the Clarins Multi-Blush Cream Blush in Candy is actually more of a light, rosy matte pink. It is can be worn quite sheer but it is buildable, and looks extremely natural when applied, which I use my fingers for. It is incredibly soft and creamy in the pan, which is why I am so impressed by the dry, powder finish.
In terms of packaging, both products I tried in the Clarins Opalescence Collection are spot-on. Clarins has glamorous red boxes, and the blush comes in a gorgeous gold compact with an easy-to-open clasp with a small “c” on it. Although the base comes in an opaque container (I always prefer being able to see the amount of product I have left) there is a pump, and you can also easily squeeze the tube, both of which are features I love. Especially the pump!
The pump on Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base in Champagne is fantastic because a) it exists and b) it doesn’t give you a massive amount of product at once. I use about three pumps to cover my face, and you can apply a second layer to build the coverage very slightly, but it is definitely still light coverage. It does a great job minimizing redness, which I usually get around my nose, and it also helped hide some of the scarring I have near my mouth after a month of bad skin.
In the above photo, I decided to do a face look using products from the Clarins Opalescence Collection, including the Clarins Multi-Blush Cream Blush in Candy as both a cheek and lip product and Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base in Champagne as a face product. I also used a small dab of concealer and that’s it. I think it gives a very natural, radiant look for Spring and all I need to do is add a coat of mascara and I’m ready to go.
Have you checked out any products from the Clarins Opalescence Collection? I am definitely interested in a few other products in this collection, including the Multi-Blushes in Grenadine and Rosewood as well as the Joli Rouge Brillant Perfect Shine Sheer Lipsticks. Let me know what you think of these products and my look!
