Happy Earth Day! I thought I would celebrate Earth Day by sharing a few more eco-friendly products from Tom’s of Maine and Lush. Of course, no brand is perfect, but I do think both these brands make a real effort in that direction.
I’m going to be honest and say that I haven’t been a big fan of the more natural toothpastes I’ve tried, although the Tom’s of Maine Cavity Prevention Toothpaste in Spearmint* is one of my favourites so far, it’s still not something I love. It does work very well, it just has a slightly unusual flavour I’m not a huge fan of, although I definitely prefer it to the other Tom’s of Maine Simply White Toothpaste in Peppermint I tried.
There’s also the Tom’s of Maine Men’s Long Lasting Wide Stick Deodorant in Clean Confidence*. Now, obviously a men’s deodorant doesn’t actually have to be used by men, but my personal preference is for the Tom’s of Maine Men’s Long Lasting Deodorant in Mountain Spring scent, which I love the fresh clean scent of. I find Clean Confidence scent to be a bit stronger and less refreshing. These deodorants are cruelty free, free of artificial flavours, fragrances, preservatives, aluminum and PG, and I always try to use a deodorant instead of an antiperspirant when I can.
Finally, there are the Lush Solid Shampoos, which get rid of the packaging waste of traditional shampoo while being leak-proof for travel and lasting an incredibly long time. The Lush Brazilliant Shampoo Bar* has a very yummy sweet orange scent and is meant for curly hair, but there are plenty of other options available. You can purchase the tin separately, because you want to keep the bar from getting wet in the shower, although I do find it a bit difficult to open. I found that the Lush Brazilliant Shampoo Bar lathered incredibly well, but it was more cleansing than moisturizing, so I definitely needed to follow up with a heavy conditioner. Still, I adored the scent, and Lush also makes solid conditioners, which seem like a neat option!
Here are just a few products to help Celebrate Earth Day with Tom’s of Maine and Lush, but of course, we don’t need to buy things to celebrate a holiday around reducing consumption. That said, toothpaste, deodorant and shampoo are all things I consider necessities, and if you are going to consume them, then it is worth considering a more eco-friendly option! How do you celebrate Earth Day?
