Burberry Lip Velvet Long Lasting Matte Lipstick in Honeysuckle (No. 409)

Burberry Lip Velvet Long Lasting Matte Lipstick in Honeysuckle (No. 409) 6My Burberry Kisses Lipstick in Sepia is easily one of my favourite lipsticks I own, so when I learned there was a new modern matte formula from the brand, I was definitely interested. There are 10 shades available, from Nude Apricot to Oxblood, and I have the Burberry Lip Velvet Long Lasting Matte Lipstick in Honeysuckle (No. 409)*, a reddish orange that sits somewhere in the middle.

Burberry Lip Velvet Long Lasting Matte Lipstick in Honeysuckle (No. 409) 5The packaging of the Burberry Lip Velvet Long Lasting Matte Lipstick in Honeysuckle (No. 409) is exactly the same as the Kissable lineup, but with a matte finish instead of a glossy. I think that’s pretty cool because it keeps the classic Burberry look, but helps reflect the product inside! All Burberry makeup has a hint of the Burberry check, along with that steel grey colour and square shape, so this lipstick fits in perfectly. The lid also has a magnetic closure.

Burberry Lip Velvet Long Lasting Matte Lipstick in Honeysuckle (No. 409) 3I have the Burberry Lip Velvet Long Lasting Matte Lipstick in Honeysuckle (No. 409), which is a reddish orange. The lipstick is embossed with the Burberry print and has a very light scent. There is quite a rounded tip to the lipstick though, which doesn’t bother me with a more sheer formula but you do have to be careful applying (or use a lip brush) for more pigmented shades.

Burberry Lip Velvet Long Lasting Matte Lipstick in Honeysuckle (No. 409) 2The formula of the Burberry Lip Velvet Long Lasting Matte Lipstick in Honeysuckle (No. 409) is amazing. It is creamy and pigmented. The shade applies perfectly evenly and opaque in a single swipe! This shade isn’t shiny but it definitely still has some sheen to it as opposed to be totally matte.

Burberry Lip Velvet Long Lasting Matte Lipstick in Honeysuckle (No. 409)I found the Burberry Lip Velvet Long Lasting Matte Lipstick in Honeysuckle (No. 409) very comfortable to wear and not at all drying on the lips. It lasted about 3 to 4 hours on me, and leaves behind a light stain. I’m honestly not a fan of this particular shade on me, but I’m lusting over the shades Rosewood (No. 421) and Damson (No. 425) which are more rosy neutrals.

Burberry Lip Velvet Long Lasting Matte Lipstick in Honeysuckle (No. 409) 4There are an increasing number of near-matte lipsticks available, but I’m always happy to see Burberry Beauty extend their makeup range. While the Kissable lineup is much more sheer and shiny, the Burberry Lip Velvet Long Lasting Matte Lipstick in Honeysuckle (No. 409) offers rich pigmentation in a comfortable formula. If you are looking for an opaque shade which is just as great on the inside as the outside packaging is, this is definitely a line to try out!
