Every time I talk about Burberry Beauty all I can tell you is how amazing their makeup is, but sandwiched between two rave reviews today I have a product that didn’t quite work for me, the Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom in Rose No.01*.
Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom in Rose No.01 is a new launch from the brand and it’s a cream product that can be used on the lips or cheeks, although like most lip-cheek duos I definitely prefer it on the cheeks. It comes in square packaging with the signature steel grey metal and Burberry print. There are 6 shades available, and I have the lightest one, which is most likely the cause of all my issues since my trustworthy source, Chelle who reviewed the vibrant shade, Poppy, didn’t have any of the same problems.
Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom in Rose No.01 is a very light, white-based pink. It is really very pale, and even when I layered it many times–which is a bit difficult, it’s definitely a product that is better for sheering out than layering–it hardly showed up on my NC15-20 skin. Definitely a subtle shade meant for very fair ladies!
In terms of consistency, the Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom in Rose No.01 has a unique spongy texture to it and an almost-silicone feel to it when applied. I used my fingers and a brush to apply and both techniques worked. It is very easy to blend out, which is great for more pigmented products, but honestly not much of an issue with a shade this pale.
I applied the Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom in Rose No.01 to both my cheeks and lips for the above photo. As you can tell, the white-base of this shade and slightly powdery finish is not very flattering on the lips, although I’ve seen the other shades look much better. On the cheeks, it’s even more subtle (and I really tried to build it up) but there’s a bit of a natural pink glow. I did not find it to be long-lasting on either the lips or cheeks, but it was honestly hard to tell when it faded.
On a positive note, I’m also wearing the Burberry Fresh Glow Foundation in Porcelain No.11 and the Burberry No.12 Nude Blush Complete Eye Palette in the above photo, both of which I adore.
I’m really sad that the Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom in Rose No.01 wasn’t the smashing success I always expect from the brand, but I blame this purely on the shade which is just too subtle for my skintone.
I haven’t given up the product and I’m desperately lusting over the stunning Poppy shade Chelle shared as well as a tangerine option called Orange Blossom. If you’re really fair and you often find blushes uncomfortably pigmented, the Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom in Rose No.01 may be worth picking up but anyone with a medium or darker skintone should pass on this shade. Have you tried any Burberry Beauty yet?
