I found the Burberry Winter Glow Collection so stunning it was the first time I shared press releases on Writing Whimsy, so I’m really thrilled to have been able to test out and review one of the products, the Burberry Gold Glow Fragranced Luminising Powder*.
Burberry Gold Glow Fragranced Luminising Powder comes in a velvet pouch with the classic Burberry print and a pocket for both the powder, and the brush that comes with it. The brush is thin, narrow and soft, and while it does work with the powder, it’s large enough that I think it would be best for use on the decollete rather than the face. The packaging is incredibly luxe, and I think it’s pretty cool because it’s the same as the regular Burberry line except gold instead of dark grey, which means it fits in well while adding something extra special for the holidays.
Burberry Gold Glow Fragranced Luminising Powder compact is quite weighty, and inside there is a mirror and the powder, which is embossed with the My Burberry logo. My Burberry is a new fragrance from the brand, which I reviewed earlier (here) and this powder actually has the same scent. I love the scent so this doesn’t bother me, but it may be a issue if you’re sensitive to them as it is quite strong in the compact, although I don’t notice it once applied.
Despite the bright yellow gold packaging, the actual product inside the Burberry Gold Glow Fragranced Luminising Powder compact is an antique gold with a hint of taupe to it that is completely unique in my collection. It is quite sheer and although you can build it up, I think it would be very difficult to overapply–I couldn’t manage it–because of how subtle the shimmer is.
The Burberry Gold Glow Fragranced Luminising Powder is very finely milled, so you have to be gentle with your brush or you can end up with a lot of powder in the air, which is also why I prefer using my own brush compared to the one included.
It’s really hard to capture the glow of highlighter that looks natural and not like you’re wearing glitter all over your face–which is, you know, what you actually want from a highlighter, so this photo is my attempt. I’m also wearing the Burberry Gold Glow Fragranced Luminising Powder in all four photos taken for my Almay Smart Shade Butter Kiss Lipsticks in Light-Medium post, so you can check that out for full face photographs.
The Burberry Gold Glow Fragranced Luminising Powder has an incredibly luxe formula and packaging, and it is definitely a treat to own but even if I narrowed down my makeup collection by 90%, I would still hold onto this! I think this is a very natural highlighter and would look great on a range of skintones, and it would make a lovely gift for the holidays, even if it’s one you have to purchase for yourself!
The Burberry Beauty line is available at Nordstrom Chinook Centre (Calgary) and online at burberry.com. Some of the Beauty collection will be available at the Burberry Boutiques (Vancouver & Toronto).
