Honestly, it’s never fun to write a negative review. I really want to fall in love with all the products I try, especially when one has as good reviews as the Boscia Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil did. I was running low on my Garnier Clean+ Nourishing Cleansing Oil, so I picked this up to try out during the Sephora VIB sale. I was really interested to see how a high end cleansing oil compared to my usual drugstore options. It’s pretty obvious–this did not work for me.
The Boscia Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil comes in a great pump bottle and has a nice, cool, refreshing scent. I apply about 2 pumps to my face, massage it in, and then lather with warm water to rinse away makeup. Although this cleansing oil had no issues removing the makeup, I found that it often irritates my eyes. I mostly use cleansing oil when I’m wearing heavy eye makeup, so one that doesn’t work on the eye area is pretty much useless to me. I also found that it gave me slightly cloudy vision after using it which is a bit disconcerting.
I really loved the scent and consistency of the Boscia Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil. It had a milky texture that left my skin feeling soft and moisturized, which is great for dry winter weather. Unfortunately it also caused me to break out. I’m honestly not sure what to do with the rest of my bottle–I think I might continue using it but follow up with a second cleanser. If the breakouts continue, I’ll have to pass it onto somebody else.
Although the Boscia Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil was my first experience with the brand, I am definitely still interested in trying out more as I have also heard great things about their face masks. I’m really disappointed this product didn’t work better for me. However, skincare really varies from person to person, so–especially if you have dry skin and don’t have sensitive eyes like I do–the Boscia Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil may work for you.
As for me, I’m afraid it’s time to breakup.
