I’m honestly really selective with the skincare I accept for review on Writing Whimsy because I don’t want to switch up my routine every week since I wouldn’t be able to give you a real assessment of the products and my skin probably wouldn’t like it either! However, I’m always excited about new products from The Body Shop and with dry winter skin there’s nothing better than The Body Shop Oils of Life Skin Care Collection!
The Body Shop Oils of Life range uses three natural seed oils including black cumin seed oil from Egypt, camellia seed oil from China, and rosehip seed oil from Chile. These oils work together to help nourish and revitalize your skin. I’ve been using three products from the range, The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil,* Cream* and the brand new The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Sleeping Cream*.
I received The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil as a part of The Body Shop Oils of Life Skin Care Collection Gift Set at Christmas time and I’ll been looking forward to using it ever since. The value set also includes the Cream and is still available for sale on The Body Shop website.
The Facial Oil has the same earthy, slightly spicy scent as the rest of the line, which wasn’t my favourite but has honestly grown on me as I’ve used them. It may end up like the The Body Shop Tea Tree Range with me loving it! The oil is dispensed using a glass dropper and I use it at night after cleansing but before a cream to help lock in moisture. I only need a few drops for my whole face and it leaves my skin silky smooth.
To follow up after the Facial Oil I always use a cream. The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Cream has a nice, thicker cream consistency that still absorbs great into the skin. It can be used in the morning or evening but I stick to using it at night since if I don’t forget I use a moisturizer with SPF in the morning. I find it very soothing on the skin and it definitely leaves it softer.
Like the rest of the range, the Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Cream comes in heavy, amber-coloured glass which looks very chic and expensive. Combined with the gold labels, these are definitely skincare products to display (although possibly a little less travel friendly!)
The final product I tried is a brand new addition to the range, The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Sleeping Cream. In addition to the 3 seed oils, it also contains 7 essential oils such as lavender, rosemary leaf, and orange peel.
I was a little confused by this product, because unlike the regular Cream, this is specifically meant for night time use. As a result, I would expect it to be even heavier, but it’s not. It reminds me a bit of The Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask with more of a cream-gel consistency. Despite the unexpected texture, the Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Sleeping Cream definitely does a great job hydrating the skin and helping it look more refreshed. That said, I didn’t notice a dramatic difference between using the Cream or the Sleeping Cream in terms of which one is more moisturizing.
Overall, I have really enjoyed using the The Body Shop Oils of Life range during this dry weather and I will definitely continue to incorporate these products into my skincare routine. Facial oils are definitely a new product to me but for me that was the standout product and I highly recommend pairing it with either the Cream or the Sleeping Cream for a moisturizing, nourishing night time routine. You can shop the range, including a Facial Massager that has my attention, here.
