YAY it’s the weekend! Honestly, I needed it. I had an amazing time last weekend on a blogger road trip (details coming soon!) but I feel like I’ve been playing catch up all week. The one relief has been more baths than usual and luckily I’ve had a few items from the new The Body Shop British Rose Collection to test out. The range includes body care along with a makeup palette, but the pieces I’ve been using are The Body Shop British Rose Exfoliating Gel Body Scrub, Instant Glow Body Butter and Petal-Soft Hand Cream.
I’m not always the biggest fan of The Body Shop scrubs (I found the Poppy Seed one quite messy) but I’ve been loving the new The Body Shop British Rose Exfoliating Gel Body Scrub. This scrub has a unique “jelly” consistency that’s made with walnut shell powder for a gentle exfoliation. The scent is a delicious rose that’s made with real rose petals and the essence of hand-picked British roses. It must be the fact that it has actual roses in it instead of a just a synthetic fragrance, but it has a much fresher scent than many musky rose scents. There’s almost something a bit citrus about it. For me, this is a scrub I could use daily and it leaves behind a light scent on the skin.
The Body Shop British Rose Instant Glow Body Butter has a very similar fragrance to the Body Scrub, although I find there is less of the freshness and a little more powdery notes in the lotion variations. I’m a lifelong fan of the The Body Shop Body Butters, but this one has a bit of a unique twist, it has a bit of pearlescence to it. It’s definitely not shimmery or sparkly, but when applied not only does this Body Butter offer a ton of moisture and a lovely scent that sticks around (lightly) on your skin, but it also gives a tiny bit of a natural sheen. In terms of consistency, The Body Shop British Rose Instant Glow Body Butter falls in about the middle for how thick it is compared to other TBS Body Butter and it’s perfect for the summer months.
Maybe it’s weird, but one of the body care items I’m always the most excited about are hand creams, and The Body Shop British Rose Petal-Soft Hand Cream does not disappoint. This rose-scented lotion is lightweight and absorbs quickly into the skin. There’s a tiny bit of tackiness but maybe that’s just me being weird. While it’s not a product I would use for intensely moisturizing my cuticles, it’s perfect for applying on the go when don’t want any greasy residue. I find the fragrance stronger than the Body Butter but it does fade over time (it’s quite lovely though!)
Based on this taste of The Body Shop British Rose Collection, I’m definitely a fan of the new fragrance. I think my favourite of the three is the Exfoliating Gel Body Scrub, the texture is just so fun and I love the added freshness of the fragrance. There’s also a British Rose Petal-Soft Bath Foam that sounds lovely! I think these products would make an amazing Mother’s Day Gift and if you pick up a couple there’s currently an amazing Mother’s Day Tote Bag promo going on as well (Check it out here).
