As somebody who has never had flawless skin, I was really interested in testing out the Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser* and Biore Self Heating One Minute Mask* which both contain charcoal, an ingredient that helps draw impurities out of the skin so they can be washed away. These are two affordable, deep-cleansing products that are great for oily or combination skin, or for use for anyone when you have a breakout.
When I got the Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser, I actually thought it came in an opaque bottle, but it turns out it’s just a very dark grey because of the charcoal. To use it, I wet my face, apply one pump to my hand (I love how convenient and hygienic that format is) until it suds up and wash my face with it. It has a tingly refreshing feeling that I think makes this a great face wash for the morning because it really wakes you up. However it would also be good at night for really getting that clean feeling. It is meant to deep clean and purify, although I don’t find it too drying I do stick to using the Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser when my skin needs something a little stronger than usual, and make sure to apply a moisturizer afterwards.
To pair with the charcoal cleanser, there’s the Biore Self Heating One Minute Mask, which is sold with four single use packets. Each package definitely contains enough for a full use although not enough to share with a friend, and it is quite a strong mask so I wouldn’t use it more than once a week, so four seems like a good amount for trying it out but I would still prefer a tube format. It’s a thick, dark grey cream that you apply to wet, clean skin and massage in for one minute. I found the self heating element was very strong and lasted the full minute before I rinsed it off. I definitely would not recommend this mask for sensitive skin, but I love it. After I rinse it off, it leaves my skin feeling so soft and refreshed and clean. However it is pretty drying and definitely requires a follow up moisturizer, but the end result is one of my favourite face masks I’ve used and my pores and skin look great.
I think both the Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser and the Self Heating One Minute Mask are great products for purifying the skin for those on the oily/combination side of things. These are definitely products I will be reaching for when my skin needs a little push in the right direction/ a deep cleanse, and I’m interested to see if Biore comes out with any more charcoal products for the line, because I would definitely try them out!
