Sometimes it’s fun to just order random foreign beauty (and bath) products off Ebay and see what you get! This was one of those cases, when I picked up two packets of Japanese bath salts, each for $1 including shipping, and decided to give them a try. The first one I tested out was the Bathclin Karada Plus Aroma Sparkling in Fresh Yuzu (purchased here).
The packet of Bathclin Karada Plus Aroma Sparkling in Fresh Yuzu contained 30 g of bath salts, which seemed like a perfect amount for one bath. Even though it was only a dollar, that’s still more than I usually pay for one bath worth of product, but considering the product including shipping all the way from Japan, it’s still reasonable and worth it if only for the experience of trying out a foreign product.
I admit to not paying the best attention when I bought the product (oh the hazards of Ebay) because I was definitely surprised when I opened it up and… it was GREEN.
There were also some weird white chunks in it. Not incredibly appetizing, but this was for the bath and wasn’t supposed to be edible, so I held my judgment. I’m not sure exactly what colour I expected the Bathclin Karada Plus Aroma Sparkling in Fresh Yuzu to turn my bathwater, but I definitely didn’t expect neon yellow. I was wrong!
The scent was okay, nothing special and delicious but nothing terrible either. Yuzu is an East Asian citrus fruit but the smell wasn’t really like citrus to me. The water was relaxing, but I think it’s hard for a bath to not be relaxing. The weird thing was how the colour of the bathwater. It honestly made me think I was bathing in some sort of toxic waste or chemical from a nuclear power plant. It just wasn’t a relaxing colour, if that makes sense.
Overall, an interesting experience but I will not be repurchasing the Bathclin Karada Plus Aroma Sparkling in Fresh Yuzu bath salts, and probably won’t bother with the Bathclin Kara Plus in any other of the flavours. I’m not turned away from foreign bath products forever though, and I do have another florescent bath salt to share with you soon!
Would you ever try these bath salts? What do you think of the colour they turn your bathwater, weird or relaxing?
