Earlier this month I got a wonderful surprise mailing from Farleyco, a cute and spacious bag filled with Back To School Essentials. Sadly, as a grad student I never actually leave school, but that doesn’t mean I can’t take advantage of a few treats in time for September. Their mailing described the products as “Cool, Clean and Collegiate” and I can tell you by the time I was done using them I was at least 2/3 of those things!
The Farleyco bag of treats included four different Back To School Essentials: I love… Strawberries & Cream Bubble Bath and Shower Creme*, I love… Raspberry & Blackberry Body Butter*, X3 Clean Hand Sanitizer* and Perspirex Antiperspirant Roll On*.
I have seen the I love… products before at Shoppers Drug Mart, which is the exclusive Canadian retailer of these products, so I was interested to try out the I love… Strawberries & Cream Bubble Bath and Shower Creme and see how it fared. Pretty much every shower gel can also be used as a bubble bath, but this one is creamy and scented enough that I can see it making especially good bubbles– although I wasn’t able to try it out that way since I don’t have a bath tub until next week. Scent-wise, this reminds me of strawberry shortbread, it’s definitely a creamy fake strawberry scent. It’s fairly runny in consistency but I didn’t find it at all drying as a body wash, and it left behind a subtle scent on my skin.
To match up with the shower creme, I tried out the I love… Raspberry & Blackberry Body Butter, which again had a very sweet scent but it is one I preferred. This is more of a whipped body butter than a super dense one, so the end result isn’t very heavy and it absorbs well into the skin and leaves behind a lovely scent. I think this would be a great product to use in the morning when you don’t want to get dressed with greasy skin.
I don’t often use hand santizers, but I’m definitely more likely to with the X3 Clean Hand Sanitizer because it is not only alcohol-free (so not drying like so many are) but it also comes out in a fun foam. Everything is more fun in foam format! There’s no scent and the size is small enough to put in your bag, so it’s super convenient and would also be great for storing in a locker at school.
My recent goal is to find a more natural deodorant that works for me, so unfortunately Perspirex Antiperspirant Roll On is exactly the opposite, but I can’t deny that it is effective. I applied it at night to unbroken skin as instructed and it worked pretty well up to the end of day three (day three involved a lot of being outside and it wasn’t 100% effective, but my underarms were less sweaty than a lot of me). I did have itchiness on day 1, and products that stop me from sweating so long make me a little nervous, but if you do suffer from really bad sweating this is definitely a good option to look into.
What are your back to school essentials?
