I had to up an exclamation point in the title because no, your eyes are not misleading you, this is an EMPTIES post! It has been so long since I’ve done one (or a favourites) because of my “transitional” living situation. Luckily, I’m back in my own apartment now and I have been storing my garbage just incase. I do have the last few months stored in various places so I’ll be doing some random empties posts with those products as I can, but in the meantime, I’ll share my August empties.
Starting off with some bigger products I was super excited to finally finish (or not, in the case of the polish removers…) I have the Tresemme Kertain Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner*, somehow the serum got misplaced in the move and I wasn’t able to finish it up together, but I will use that in the future. I thought the entire line together did a great job helping my hair be smooth and shiny, but just using these two products on their own was very drying to my scalp over time, so they aren’t ones I’d reach for again, at least not without giving my head a break in between.
I have had the John Freida Frizz-Ease Dream Curls Curl Perfector for a really long time and I wasn’t super impressed with it until I saw somebody use it on dry hair in the morning as a kind of refresher. MAGIC. I have way too many hair products but definitely tempted to rebuy now.
The two polish removers both contain acetone which is why I can definitely see myself repurchasing Compliments Nail Polish Remover (my favourite) or Up & Up 100% Acetone. I’m trying to use up the non-acetone removers I have left (down to two bottles…) and it’s miserable.
I haven’t been taking as many baths since I wasn’t living at my own place, but that will now be changing. However on a visit home I did use up Lush Granny Takes A Dip* and I loved it.
I have way too many makeup remover wipes opened so I’m working to finish those packs, including the ELF Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths which I remember liking when I first used but were dried out by now and nothing super magical.
Even though Sample Killah is over I’ve been trying to continue to make a dent in my samples, including this Sephora Liquid Luxuries Fragrance Sampler, Gud Pearanormal Activity Body Lotion and The Spa Collection Hair & Body Gel with Lemon Grass (x3), none of which were super memorable or special except I did appreciate the pun.
A few more samples I finished including a Givenchy Hot Eau de Toilette (smelled great), a Pacifica Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream (actually 10 mL and took me quite awhile and always left my skin looking kinda greasy), Matrix Biolage Age Rejuvenating Intensive Masque (was really nice on my hair) and Josie Maran Argan Matchmaker Serum Foundation (only got one use but it seemed nice).
There are three fragrances, two I got while traveling in the middle east and have the labels in Arabic, and the third Atelier Cologn Silver Iris I don’t really remember. Finally there’s a nice micellar water type eye makeup remover, Clarins Gentle Eye-Makeup Remover that wasn’t effective on really stubborn things but was definitely kind to my eyes.
My Biore Self Heating One Minute Mask* pack came with four so I just used the last one, these get quite hot but I do like them.
I finished up a mini Dove Go Sleeveless Antiperspirant, which I liked but I am trying to go more natural with my deodorant, at least for the cooler months. I made it through my second and final Julep Pink Grapefruit Body Frosting and there are just plenty of body lotions I prefer.
Then a few more sample-sized items including Every Beauty Makeup Remover Pads you just add water (honestly, I prefer makeup wipes for travel) and Total Refresh Cooling Body Cloths that would feel nice after working out but wouldn’t replace a shower. Finally I had a nice Etude House Aloe Sheet Mask that felt really good on a hot summer day. The samples continue to perish!
I used up the Coolway Boost, a sort of hair masque that smelled nice and was helpful. I also had a small travel-sized container of Caudalie Fleur de Vigne Shower Gel* with a nice smell that I enjoyed. I was super sad to finish up my Etude House I Can Fly! Eagle Owl Hand Cream which I won in a giveaway from Chantal’s Corner and LOVED and I’m super surprised at how long it lasted, but I am reusing the container by filling it up with another lotion. The packaging is way too cute to toss.
Well that’s it for now. I think I enjoy this style of writing about things instead of making lists. I didn’t get an exact count of how many items I finished, but it flowed better and seemed to take not as ridiculously long to write. Did you miss empties? What do you think of this style of post?
